Men’s 200 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n

David Foldhazi\u00a0<\/strong>of Hungary was the fastest performer this morning, touching in 1:57.69. Poland’s\u00a0Radoslaw Kawecki\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 1:58.41 for second.<\/p>\n

Short course European silver medalist\u00a0Yakov Yan Toumarkin\u00a0<\/strong>of Israel posted a 1:58.44 to earn tonight’s third seed.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Netherlands’\u00a0Femke Heemskerk\u00a0<\/strong>absolutely dominated heat four and posted a 1:57.91 for the top seed, after anchoring her country to bronze in last night’s relay.<\/p>\n

Federica Pellegrini<\/strong>\u00a0of Italy led the first circle seeded heat from start to finish and turned in a 1:57.96 to return as tonight’s second seed.<\/p>\n

It was all Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong> of France in the final heat. Her 1:58.54 was good for third entering tonight’s semifinal.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hungary’s\u00a0Laszlo Cseh,\u00a0<\/strong>last night’s 200 butterfly champion<\/a>, was the fastest swimmer of the morning, stopping\u00a0the clock\u00a0in 52.05.<\/p>\n

Italian\u00a0Piero Codia\u00a0<\/strong>returns second with his 52.38.\u00a0Pawel Korzeniowski\u00a0<\/strong>of Poland was third with a 52.46. His Polish teammate was right on his heels.\u00a0Defending champion\u00a0Konrad Czerniak\u00a0<\/strong>won his heat and posted a 52.48 to enter tonight’s semifinal\u00a0in fourth.<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n

Georgia Davies<\/strong>\u00a0of Great Britain moved from ninth to sixth in the world this year with her prelims time of 27.87.<\/p>\n

Denmark’s\u00a0Mie Nielsen<\/strong>, who just yesterday set the 100 backstroke meet record<\/a>, was second this morning with a 28.02.\u00a0Francesca Halsall\u00a0<\/strong>of Great Britain moves into semis in third with a 28.12.<\/p>\n

Men’s 50 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n

World record holder\u00a0Adam Peaty\u00a0<\/strong>moved to first in the world this year with his 26.93. He had been third in the world rankings with his 27.21 from British Championships.<\/p>\n

Peter John Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>of Slovenia turned in a 27.32 to return to tonight’s semifinals as the second seed. That time also moves him to sixth in the world this year. Italy’s\u00a0Andrea Toniato\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 27.37 for third.<\/p>\n

Mixed 400 Freestyle Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Netherlands’\u00a0Ben Schwietert<\/strong>,\u00a0Kyle Stolk<\/strong>,\u00a0Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong>, and\u00a0Maud VD Meer\u00a0<\/strong>combined for a top seeded 3:26.89. Italy’s\u00a0Luca Leonardi<\/strong>,\u00a0Jonathan Boffa<\/strong>,\u00a0Afalia Pezzato<\/strong>, and\u00a0Erika Ferraioli\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 3:28.56, good for second. Sweden finished third this morning as\u00a0Isak Eliasson<\/strong>,\u00a0Christoffer Carlsen<\/strong>,\u00a0Louise Hansson<\/strong>, and\u00a0Nathalie Lindborg\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 3:29.87.<\/p>\n

Women’s 1500 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hungary’s\u00a0Boglarka Kapas\u00a0<\/strong>rose from the seventh best time in the world this year to third. Swimming in the heat after\u00a0Mireia Belmone Garcia,\u00a0<\/strong>she bested the Spaniard’s time by .31, stopping the clock in 16:14.43. That swim makes her the top seed for tomorrow night’s final.<\/p>\n

Belmone Garcia\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in heat one\u00a0in 16:14.74. She already holds the top time in the world this year with a 16:08.38 from the Spanish Spring Championships.<\/p>\n

Her Spanish teammate\u00a0Maria Vilas Vidal\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind with a 16:15.50 in heat two. That time now ranks fifth in this year’s world rankings, just faster than her previous 16:17.10.<\/p>\n
