That swim also demolished the previous world best of 1:54.14 set by <strong>Daiya Seto<\/strong> at Japanese Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>The time is also the seventh best ever: <strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong> (1:51.51), Phelps (1:52.03), Phelps (1:52.09), Phelps (1:52.20), Cseh (1:52.70), Phelps (1:52.76). \u00a0 It just missed Cseh&#8217;s European record of 1:52.70.<\/p>\n<p>Denmark&#8217;s <strong>Viktor Bromer<\/strong> chased down a distant second in 1:55.35, off his season best of 1:55.28. \u00a0Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Tamas Kenderesi<\/strong> checked in third with a time of 1:55.39, off his fourth-ranked season best of 1:54.79.<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#8217;s <strong>Jan Switkowski<\/strong> (1:56.22), Spain&#8217;s <strong>Carlos Peralta Gallego<\/strong> (1:56.42), Belgium&#8217;s <strong>Louis Croenen<\/strong> (1:56.65), Italy&#8217;s <strong>Giacomo Carini<\/strong> (1:56.81) and Greece&#8217;s <strong>Stefanos backstroke this year as he won the 50-meter back at the 2016 European Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Lacourt, who owns the top time in the world this year with a 24.67 from the Golden Tour, took the title tonight in 24.77.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Richard Bohus<\/strong> placed second in 24.82 to move up to a fifth-ranked tie in the rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Grigory Tarasevich<\/strong> picked up bronze with a time of 24.86, while teammate<strong> Nikita Ulyanov<\/strong> wound up fourth in 24.96.<\/p>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s <strong>Jonatan Kopelev<\/strong> (25.00), Hungary in the women&#8217;s 800-meter free relay at the 2016 European Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> (1:58.60), <strong>Evelyn Verraszto<\/strong> (1:58.16) and<strong> Boglarka Kapas<\/strong> (1:58.22) kept Hungary competitive as Hosszu unleashed a 1:56.65 anchor for the win as Hungary posted a 7:51.63 for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s <strong>Melanie Costa Schmid<\/strong> (1:58.69), <strong>Patricia Castro Ortega<\/strong> (1:58.21), <strong>Fatima Gallardo Carpeto<\/strong> (1:58.63) and <strong>Mireia Belmonte Garcia<\/strong> (1:57.85) finished second in 7:53.38 with The Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Andrea Kneppers<\/strong> (2:00.19), <strong>Esmee Vermeulen<\/strong> (1:58.53), <strong>Robin Neumann<\/strong> (1:59.75) and <strong>Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> (1:55.16) placed third in 7:53.63 as Heemskerk crushed the anchor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> led Sweden off with a 1:55.30, which is a championship record in the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly at the 2016 European Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom claimed a top time of 56.12, breaking the previous mark of 56.51 set by <strong>Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> at the 2014 edition of the meet in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>The time is a bit off Sjostrom&#8217;s world-best 55.68 from the Swedish Open, but she might challenge that as well as her world record of 55.64 during finals.<\/p>\n<p>Ottesen qualified second in a time of 57.38 with Italy&#8217;s <strong>Ilaria Bianchi<\/strong> picking up third in 57.47.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Liliana Szilagyi<\/strong> (57.83), Greece&#8217;s <strong>Anna Ntountounaki<\/strong> (58.58), Belgium&#8217;s <strong>Kimberly Buys<\/strong> (58.71), Czech&#8217;s <strong>Lucie Svecena<\/strong> (58.71) and Spain&#8217;s <strong>Viktoria Zeynep Gunes<\/strong> raced her way to second in 2:23.94 for 12th in the rankings, while Denmark&#8217;s <strong>Rikke Moeller Pedersen<\/strong> placed third in semis with a 2:24.10. \u00a0She has a fifth-ranked 2:22.83 to her credit this year.<\/p>\n<p>Iceland&#8217;s <strong>Hilda Luthersdottir<\/strong> (2:24.11), Spain&#8217;s <strong>Jessica Vall Montero<\/strong>
