\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

2014 silver medalist\u00a0Molly Renshaw\u00a0<\/strong>led heat three, and all of this mornings swimmers with a 2:24.70. Her teammate from Great Britain,\u00a0Chloe Tutton\u00a0<\/strong>posted the second fastest prelims time with a 2:25.79.<\/p>\n

Defending champion\u00a0Rikke Moeller Pederson\u00a0<\/strong>of Denmark turned in a\u00a02:25.90, making her the third seed in tonight’s semifinal.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

France’s\u00a0Clement Mignon\u00a0<\/strong>posted the fastest time of the morning, stopping the clock in 48.40. The next two swimmers finished in close succession. Serbia’s\u00a0Valimir Stjepanovic\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 48.59 and\u00a0Sebastiaan Verschuren\u00a0<\/strong>of the Netherlands posted a 48.61.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n

World record holder\u00a0Sarah Sjostrom\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to a 57.20, the fastest time of this morning, and still the ninth best in the world this year, though well off her own world leading 55.68.<\/p>\n

Defending champion\u00a0Jeanette Ottesen\u00a0<\/strong>of Denmark\u00a0posted a 57.86. While off her world’s 11th 57.32 from the Danish Open, this morning’s swim still makes her tonight’s second qualifier.<\/p>\n

Defending bronze medalist\u00a0Ilaria Bianchi\u00a0<\/strong>of Italy won heat three with a 58.34 and returns to tonight’s semifinal seeded third.<\/p>\n

Men’s 800 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

After a stunning 1500 final last night<\/a>,\u00a0Gregorio Paltrinieri\u00a0<\/strong>of Italy was back to take the top seed in the 800 freestyle this morning. The Italian clocked a 7:49.87. His 800 split last night was a 7:46.24, the second fastest time in the world this year. This morning’s swim was the world’s fourth best of the year.<\/p>\n

Fellow Italian\u00a0Gabriele Detti\u00a0<\/strong>secured the second seed with his 7:51.40 this morning.<\/p>\n

Ukraine’s\u00a0Mykhaylo Romanchuk\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 7:51.83 to grab third. Great Britain’s\u00a0Timothy Shuttleworth\u00a0<\/strong>dropped 27 seconds from his seed to destroy the first heat, and secure a fourth seeded spot in the final with a 7:52.33.<\/p>\n

Women’s 800 Freestyle Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n

In prelims of the 800 freestyle relay the Spanish team of\u00a0Patricia Castro Ortega<\/strong>,\u00a0Fatima Gallardo Carapeto<\/strong>,\u00a0Melanie Costa Schmid<\/strong>, and\u00a0Africa Zamorano Sanz\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 7:57.20.<\/p>\n

Hungary’s\u00a0Evelyn Verraszto<\/strong>,\u00a0Boglarka Kapas<\/strong>,\u00a0Ajna Kesely<\/strong>, and\u00a0Zsuzsanna Jakabos\u00a0<\/strong>were right on their heels in 7:57.94.<\/p>\n

The Netherlands’\u00a0Andrea Kneppers<\/strong>,\u00a0Esmee Vermeulen<\/strong>,\u00a0Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong>, and\u00a0Robina Neumann\u00a0<\/strong>combined for a third seeded 7:59.52.<\/p>\n
