﻿{"id":203334,"date":"2016-05-16T09:24:30","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T16:24:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=203334"},"modified":"2016-05-16T09:24:30","modified_gmt":"2016-05-16T16:24:30","slug":"usa-swimming-teams-up-with-disney-pixars-finding-dory-for-just-keep-swimming-marketing-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-teams-up-with-disney-pixars-finding-dory-for-just-keep-swimming-marketing-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"USA Swimming Teams Up With Disney-Pixar&#8217;s &#8220;Finding Dory&#8221; For &#8220;Just Keep Swimming&#8221; Marketing Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.<\/strong> \u2013 Combining the timing of the theatrical release of \u201cFinding Dory\u201d with the biggest swimming summer<span data-term=\"goog_1185049186\"> in four yea<\/span>rs, USA Swimming is joining forces with Disney and Pixar to encourage families around the country to not only find Dory, but to find a swim team through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimtoday.org\/\">SwimToday<\/a> program.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration will be the centerpiece of the SwimToday campaign\u2019s first phase, where 10 industry partners band together to show non-swimmers and their parents why swimming is the<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%23FunnestSport&amp;src=typd\"><em>#FunnestSport<\/em><\/a> and provide an invitation to join in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs everyone knows, Dory\u2019s best advice to those in a tough spot is to, \u2018Just keep swimming,\u2019 making a partnership with USA Swimming ideal for \u2018Finding Dory\u2019,\u201d said Producer of \u201cFinding Dory\u201d <strong>Lindsey Collins<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u201cWe are all truly honored that the organization has made this relationship possible, and we wish them much luck at the Olympics this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cFinding Dory\u201d ad will be in the commemorative Olympic preview edition of Splash Magazine that is delivered to nearly 300,000 USA Swimming member homes. Other elements include an advanced screening of \u201cFinding Dory\u201d for U.S. National Team members in conjunction with the Arena Pro Swim Series in Santa Clara, cross promotion on Disney, Swim Today and USA Swimming social media channels and group sales opportunities for USA Swimming teams and SwimToday partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDory and SwimToday have one important key message in common \u2013 we want everyone to \u2018Just keep swimming\u2019, but more importantly we want moviegoers to join a swim team,\u201d said USA Swimming\u2019s Chief Marketing Officer <strong>Matt Farrell<\/strong>. \u201c\u2019Finding Dory\u2019 will be instrumental in our SwimToday marketing to invite non-swimmers to be a part of the funnest sport and be more like Dory, Nemo and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>USA Swimming will collaborate with Disney to send SwimToday kits, including materials on the benefits of swimming and the \u201cFinding Dory\u201d movie, to the 3,000 USA Swimming registered teams. The kits will include Disney, SwimToday and co-branded items, such as posters and informational materials. Also as part of this alliance, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimtoday.org\/\">SwimToday.org<\/a> will feature a Dory-themed landing page from mid-May leading up to th<span data-term=\"goog_1185049187\">e June <\/span>17 opening of \u201cFinding Dory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/movies.disney.com\/finding-dory\">Finding Dory<\/a>\u201d is a 3-D animated movie that reunites the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish from \u201cFinding Nemo\u201d with Marlin and Nemo for an all-new adventure about the power of friendship and family.<\/p>\n<p>Watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JhvrQeY3doI\">Finding Dory trailer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>SwimToday is endorsed and supported by 11 leading swimming industry partners, including Arena, Speedo USA, TYR, USA Swimming, Colle+McVoy, Counsilman-Hunsaker, National Swimming Pool Foundation, <em>Swimming World Magazine<\/em>, TeamUnify and USA Swimming Foundation. The \u201cFunnest Sport\u201d campaign will also address common misconceptions about the sport, encouraging more parents to consider swimming as a youth sport option for their children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinding Nemo\u201d won the 2003 Academy Award\u00ae for Best Animated Feature; the film was nominated for three additional Oscars\u00ae (Best Writing, Original Screenplay; Best Music, Original Score; Best Sound Editing). It was also nominated for a Golden Globe\u00ae Award for Best Motion Picture\u2013Comedy or Musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute named Finding Nemo among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release, Finding Nemo was the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time.
