In the open water realm he worked with notable athletes such as <\/span><b>Chloe Sutton, Ashley Twitchel, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the late <\/span><b>Fran Crippen, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">while in the pool he has coached <\/span><b>Larsen Jensen, Tom Shields, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Chad Carvin. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most recently, <\/span><b>Rose <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has worked with National Junior Team members <\/span><b>Grant Shoults <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Katie McLaughlin. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2004 <\/span><b>Rose <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was inducted into the ASCA Hall Of Fame, and has also been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bill-rose-mission-viejo-nadadores-named-southern-california-swimmings-coach-year\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">honored as Southern California Swimming Coach of the Year in both 2013 and 2014<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Commenting on his decision, the 73-year old coach said \u201cIt\u2019s probably best that I spend some quality time with my grandkids and my wife. While <\/span><b>Agnel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> did appeal the results, his motion was denied. Thus, <\/span><b>Jeremy Stravius<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was named the winner and <\/span><b>Jordan Pothian<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was named as the second place finisher, leaving <\/span><b>Agnel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">without an individual berth in the event for Rio. However, <\/span><b>Pothian <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has since forfeited his spot in the 200 freestyle, opting to focus on the 400 (which he also qualified in individually) and the 800 free relay. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rmcsport.bfmtv.com\/natation\/jo-2016-agnel-veut-faire-le-200m-en-individuel-972656.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking to RMC Sport<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Agnel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stated that he is motivated to make the most of the opportunity this summer, where he will be competing in both the individual 200 freestyle and as a part of the French 800 free relay. Writing in the Harvard Public Health Review, Canadian law professor <\/span><b>Amir Attaran<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> suggested that the threat posed by the Zika virus is so great that the 2016 Rio Olympics need to be postponed, suspended, or cancelled altogether. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Attaran <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">suggested five main reasons for his argument, including the high prevalence of the Zika virus in Rio, the dangers associated with this strain of Zika virus, the inevitable spread of the virus from 500,000 plus foreigners entering for the Games, the lack of current technology in stopping and preventing the virus, and that holding the Games in such an environment would go against the fundamental principles of the Olympic Games. This article came just a month after the Maria Lenk Trophy meet was held at the Olympic Pool <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rio-organizers-downplay-mosquito-issues-despite-infested-warm-up-pool\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amid reports of swarms of mosquitos covering the warm down pool<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
