COLUMBIA, Missouri, February 14. THE second evening of long course swimming at the USA Swimming Grand Prix meet held in Columbia concluded with Fred Bousquet charting a pool and meet record in the men's 50 free.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 IM<\/b>
\nKatie Hoff gave Mary DeScenza a rare event loss during this year's Grand Prix series as Hoff upended DeScenza, 2:13.21 to 2:14.40, in the shorter medley. Felicia Lee rounded out the top three in 2:16.64.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 IM<\/b>
\nRyan Lochte edged Eric Shanteau in the event with a winning effort of 2:00.59. Shanteau completed the race in 2:00.88 for second. Alex Vanderkaay placed third in 2:01.27.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 free<\/b>
\nAmanda Weir ripped off a time of 25.11 to win the sprint free. Christine Magnuson completed a second-place time of 25.35, while Lisa Nathanson took third in 26.04.<\/p>\n
Men's 50 free<\/b>
\nFred Bousquet uncorked a pool and meet record in the splash-and-dash with a readout of 21.59. That performance eclipsed the 22.01 set by Auburn teammate Cesar Cielo last year. Brent Hayden nearly picked off his Canadian national record of 22.19 with a second-place 22.25. Bryan Lundquist completed the podium in 22.28.<\/p>\n
"It was a real surprise to see that time pop up in the final," Auburn coach Brett Hawke told Auburn Athletics. "Fred didn't swim well in the prelim and qualified in lane one. He came out in the final and just tore the field apart. He came in a full body length ahead of everybody."<\/p>\n
Women's 200 breast<\/b>
\nKeri Hehn crushed the competition in the event with a top time of 2:28.91. Raminta Dvariskyte grabbed second place in 2:32.03, while Sarah Peterson comprised the rest of the top three in 2:39.01.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 breast<\/b>
\nEric Shanteau cruised to victory in the 200 breast with a winning time of 2:13.74. Martin Cernansky touched out Tom Beeri for second, 2:15.31 to 2:15.37. <\/p>\n
Women's 100 back<\/b>
\nMary DeScenza got back into the win column with a quick time of 1:01.46 in the women's 100 back. Petra Klosova held off SMU teammate Therese Svendsen, 1:03.19 to 1:03.34, for second-place honors.<\/p>\n
Men's 100 back<\/b>
\nRyan Lochte is not going to go away quietly as Mary DeScenza is in the lead for the overall Grand Prix series title. Lochte overtook Nick Thoman, 55.16 to 55.59, for the victory. Marco Loughran touched out Vlad Morozov, 56.13 to 56.18, for third.<\/p>\n
Women's 400 free<\/b>
\nKatie Hoff claimed her second title of the night with a triumphant time of 4:08.00 in the middle distance event. Chloe Sutton snatched second in 4:09.92, while Savannah King wound up third in 4:12.93.<\/p>\n
Men's 400 free<\/b>
