Everything you need to follow along with finals of day one of the 2016 Atlanta Classic held at Georgia Tech.<\/p>\n
Schedule of Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n Hit refresh for all the latest coverage.<\/p>\n Katie Ledecky<\/strong> maintained her spot atop the 200 free field, stopping the clock at a final 1:54.82 for first. Ledecky shaved a slim .03 seconds off her prelims time of 1:54.85.<\/p>\n Grabbing second was Stanford’s\u00a0Simone Manuel<\/strong> with a 1:57.90. She succeeded in dropping 1.45 seconds off her prelims time of 1:59.35.<\/p>\n Shannon Vreeland<\/strong> posted a 1:58.88 to finish third overall, also dropping time off her prelims swim of 1:59.86.<\/p>\n Brittany MacLean\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fourth with a final 1:59.47, just ahead of\u00a0Hali Flickinger<\/strong> and her time of 1:59.72.<\/p>\n Sarah Henry<\/strong> (1:59.88),\u00a0Madisyn Cox<\/strong> (2:00.05), and\u00a0Amanda Weir<\/strong> (2:00.69) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n Jay Litherland<\/strong> jumped to the top of the leaderboard in the men’s 200 free turning in a final time of 1:49.41 to finish first. Litherland was the only swimmer to post a sub-1:50 200 free.<\/p>\n Gunnar Bentz<\/strong> grabbed second in the 200 free with a final time of 1:50.11, slicing 1.52 seconds off his prelims time of 1:51.63.<\/p>\n Sebastien Rousseau<\/strong> and\u00a0Ryan Murphy<\/strong> kept a tight race for third, turning in times .16 seconds apart. Rousseau got his hand to the wall ahead of Murphy to finish with a 1:50.80. Murphy settled for fourth and a 1:50.96.<\/p>\n Kevin Litherland<\/strong> posted a final time of 1:51.04 to grab fifth place overall.<\/p>\n Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Jacob Pebley<\/strong> delivered matching times to tie for sixth in tonight’s final. The duo stopped the clock at a final time of 1:51.10.<\/p>\n Walker Higgins<\/strong> rounded out the top eight with a time of 1:51.49.<\/p>\n A duo of 1:07’s highlighted the women’s 100 breasstroke.\u00a0Melanie Margalis<\/strong> grabbed the top spot on the podium with a final 1:07.48, dropping 1.84 seconds off her prelims time of 1:09.32.<\/p>\n Molly Hannis\u00a0<\/strong>finished second overall with a 1:07.86. Hannis is currently ranked fourth in the world rankings for 2016 after posting a 1:06.16 at the Southern Premier earlier this year.<\/p>\n Breeja Larson<\/strong> posted a final time of 1:08.46 to finish third overall, while\u00a0Laura Sogar<\/strong> turned in a 1:09.14 to finish fourth.<\/p>\n Kayla Brumbaum\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fifth place with a 1:10.96. She was followed to the wall by a duo of 1:11’s.\u00a0Annie Zhu<\/strong> (1:11.32) and\u00a0Vanessa Pearl<\/strong> (1:11.93) finished sixth and seventh respectively.<\/p>\n Allie Raab<\/strong> rounded out the top eight with a 1:12.06.<\/p>\n Andrew Wilson<\/strong> and\u00a0Reece Whitley<\/strong> kept a tight race in finals of the men’s 100 breaststroke, finishing .11 seconds apart. Wilson delivered the top time of the evening, stopping the clock at a 1:02.06 ahead of Whitley’s 1:02.17.<\/p>\n Chuck Katis<\/strong> of Cal posted the only other 1:02 of the morning at a 1:02.53, good for third.<\/p>\n Moises Loschi<\/strong> finished fourth overall with a 1:03.16, while a tie followed him to the wall.\u00a0Brad Craig<\/strong> and\u00a0Michael Duderstadt<\/strong> delivered matching times of 1:03.72 for fifth.<\/p>\n Wyatt Hodges<\/strong> (1:04.21) and\u00a0Cameron Conners\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.62) finished seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n Felicia Lee\u00a0<\/strong>of Stanford dashed to the only sub 1-minute 100 fly of the night. Lee stopped the clock at a 59.57 to earn the gold.<\/p>\n Hali Flickinger<\/strong> posted the second fastest time of the night at a 1:00.09, while\u00a0Lauren Case<\/strong> grabbed third with a 1:00.22.<\/p>\n Finishing close behind Case was\u00a0Natalie Labonge<\/strong> with a 1:00.25 and another .02 seconds behind her was\u00a0Beryl Gastaldello<\/strong> with a 1:00.27.<\/p>\n Christine Bechtel<\/strong> was sixth overall with a 1:00.48.<\/p>\n Seventh fell to\u00a0Krista Duffield<\/strong> (1:00.87) and\u00a0Abby Meyers<\/strong> grabbed eighth with a 1:01.01.<\/p>\n NCAA champion\u00a0Joseph Schooling\u00a0<\/strong>moved to the top of podium in the men’s 100 fly with a final time of 51.86. Schooling’s time moves him into the top 20 world rankings for 2016.<\/p>\n Slipping to second was\u00a0Tom Shields<\/strong>, who stopped the clock at a 52.02.<\/p>\n Jack Conger<\/strong> and\u00a0David Nolan\u00a0<\/strong>kept it close to finish third and fourth respectively. Conger delivered a 53.33 over Nolan’s 53.60.<\/p>\n Luis Martinez<\/strong> finished fifth overall with a time of 53.67.<\/p>\n Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> and\u00a0Gunnar Bentz<\/strong> posted matching times of 53.75 to tie for sixth, while\u00a0Eugene Godsoe<\/strong> was eighth with a 54.14.<\/p>\n Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong> flew to first in the women’s 400 IM with a final time of 4:33.55. Beisel’s time rockets her to fourth in the world rankings for 2016, up from eighth.<\/p>\n Maya DiRado\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a second place finish of 4:36.98, finishing just shy of her 2016 best of 4:36.82.<\/p>\n After winning the 200 free this morning\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>was back and continues to prove herself as a 400 IMer. Ledecky stopped the clock at a 4:37.93 for third and enters the world rankings for 2016 at thirteenth.<\/p>\n Despite posting the top time of the morning Stanford’s\u00a0Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>slipped to fourth with a 4:40.77, while\u00a0Sarah Henry<\/strong> claimed fifth with a 4:41.58.<\/p>\n Mia Nonneberg\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed sixth overall with a 4:42.19.<\/p>\n Emily Cameron<\/strong> (4:47.50) and\u00a0Brittany MacLean<\/strong> (4:48.08) were seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>continued his impressive performances with a win in the men’s 400 IM. Litherland stopped the clock just ahead of Cal’s\u00a0Josh Prenot<\/strong> to win with a time of 4:14.66. Prenot grabbed second with a time of 4:14.81.<\/p>\n Marton Barta<\/strong> claimed third with a 4:19.47, while\u00a0Sean Grieshop<\/strong> finished close behind with a 4:19.83.<\/p>\n The gap widened between fourth and fifth with\u00a0Brennan Day\u00a0<\/strong>turning in a time of 4:27.27 for fifth.<\/p>\n Sixth went to\u00a0Austin Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>and his time of 4:27.79.<\/p>\n Andrew Winton\u00a0<\/strong>(4:28.30) and\u00a0Robert Finke<\/strong> (4:29.82) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Everything you need to follow along with finals of day one of the 2016 Atlanta Classic held at Georgia Tech.
