Everything you need to follow along with prelims of day one of the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Charlotte.<\/p>\n
Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n Hit refresh for all the latest coverage.<\/p>\n Leah Smith<\/strong> topped the women’s 200 free field by more than two seconds to kickstart day one prelims. The distance star clocked a 1:57.42 to return tonight as the top seed.<\/p>\n Lindsay Vrooman<\/strong> and\u00a0Rose Bi<\/strong> turned in similar times to return as tonight’s second and third place seeds. Vrooman stopped the clock at a 1:59.74 over Bi’s 1:59.78 for second and third respectively.<\/p>\n Siobhan Haughey<\/strong> rounded out the sub-2 minute qualifiers with a 1:59.89, good for fourth.<\/p>\n Taylor Ruck<\/strong> turned in a time of 2:00.01 for fifth, while\u00a0Jen Marrkand\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth in prelims with a 2:00.79.<\/p>\n Gillian Ryan<\/strong> (2:01.13) and\u00a0Alex Norris<\/strong> (2:01.40) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n Connor Dwyer<\/strong> led the men’s 200-meter free prelims with a 1:48.43 to return as tonight’s first place seed. Dwyer’s best time for 2016 was a 1:46.61 last month at the Mesa stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.<\/p>\n Zane Grothe<\/strong> grabbed the second place seed for tonight’s final with a 1:49.03, while\u00a0Anders Lie Nielsen<\/strong> returns as third after stopping the clock at a 1:49.66.<\/p>\n Michael Klueh<\/strong> posted the only other sub-2 minute 200 with a final 1:49.80 earning him fourth in tonight’s final.<\/p>\n Tyler Clary<\/strong> and\u00a0Norbert Szabo\u00a0<\/strong>turned in similar times of 1:50.57 and 1:50.60 for fifth and sixth place seeds respectively.<\/p>\n Blake Pieroni<\/strong> (1:50.67) and\u00a0Joao De Lucca\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.68) finished seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n NCAA breaststroke champion\u00a0Lilly King<\/strong> led this morning’s field in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:07.06. King’s time earns her a spot in the lower echelons of the top 20 world rankings for 2016.<\/p>\n Katie Meili<\/strong> grabbed the second place seed for tonight’s final with a 1:07.72. Meili is currently ranked seventh in the world rankings after posting a 1:06.49 last month at the Mesa stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.<\/p>\n Alia Atkinson<\/strong> also added to her 2016 best, turning in a final time of 1:08.10 this morning. Atkinson posted a 1:06.84 last month at Mesa for 13th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n Rachel Nicol\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fourth in tonight’s finals with a 1:08.64, just ahead of\u00a0Kierra Smith’s<\/strong> 1:08.93.<\/p>\n Haley Spencer<\/strong> and\u00a0Emily McClellan<\/strong> turned in matching times of 1:08.96 for the sixth place seed, while\u00a0Anne Lazor<\/strong> was eighth this morning with a 1:09.15.<\/p>\n Cody Miller<\/strong> turned in the top time of the morning for the men’s 100-meter breaststroke, stopping the clock at a 1:01.13. A trio of 1:01’s followed to round out the top four of tonight’s ‘A’ final.<\/p>\n Miguel De Lara Ojeda\u00a0<\/strong>posted the second fastest time of the morning with a 1:01.59, while\u00a0Azad Al-Barazi<\/strong> grabbed third with a 1:01.88.<\/p>\n Youssef El Kamash<\/strong>, winner of this event at last month’s stop in Mesa, rounded out the 1:01’s\u00a0with a 1:01.97.<\/p>\n The fifth place seed was claimed by\u00a0Richard Funk<\/strong> and his time of 1:02.12.<\/p>\n Jason Block<\/strong> and\u00a0Jorge Murillo Valdes<\/strong> turned in close times for sixth and seventh in toinght’s final. Block stopped the clock at a 1:02.47 over Valdes’ 1:02.56.<\/p>\n Zach Hayden\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 1:02.63 for eighth.<\/p>\n Ali Deloof<\/strong> and\u00a0Kylie Masse<\/strong> swam ahead of the competition to return as tonight’s top two qualifiers in the women’s 50-meter back. Deloof stopped the clock at 28.22 for the first place seed over Masse’s 28.29.<\/p>\n Kirsty Coventry<\/strong> turned in a 28.55 to claim the third place seed, while\u00a0Dominique Bouchard<\/strong> posted a 28.63 for fourth.<\/p>\n Fernanda Gonzalez\u00a0<\/strong>earned the fifth place seed with a time of 28.77.<\/p>\n Clara Smiddy<\/strong> and\u00a0Kathleen Baker<\/strong> posted similar times for sixth and seventh place. Smiddy touched in 28.92 over Baker’s 28.94.<\/p>\n Claire Adams\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight with a 29.00.<\/p>\n In an unusual turn of events the top seed of the men’s 50-meter back will be shared tonight by two individuals\u00a0Bryce Bohman<\/strong> and\u00a0Bob Glover<\/strong> turned in matching times from separate heats, both stopping the clock at 25.69.<\/p>\n Posting hte only other sub-26 second swim was\u00a0Paul Le<\/strong> who finished with a 25.97 for third.<\/p>\n Arkady Vyatchanin<\/strong> grabbed tonight’s fourth place seed with a time of 26.21, while\u00a0Javier Acevedo\u00a0<\/strong>finished fifth this morning with a 26.34.<\/p>\n James Wells<\/strong> (26.39),\u00a0Andy Song An\u00a0<\/strong>(26.81), and\u00a0Ali Khalafalla<\/strong> (26.83) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n Dana Vollmer<\/strong> topped prelims of the women’s 100-meter fly with a 57.83. That sits just off her world best of 56.94 for 2016, which she posted last month at the Mesa stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.<\/p>\n Posting a close second was\u00a0Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> at 58.00. Worrell also moved up in the world ranking last month after her 57.27 last month at Mesa.<\/p>\n The young Canadian superstar,\u00a0Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>, grabbed the third place seed with a 58.51. At the age of 15 Oleksiak is one of the youngest swimmers on Canada’s 2016 Olympic team.<\/p>\n Hellen Moffitt<\/strong> turned in the only other sub-59 swim, earning the fourth place seed with a 58.93.<\/p>\n Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Farida Osman\u00a0<\/strong>posted close times to return as fifth and sixth in tonight’s ‘A’ final. Vanderpool-Wallace stopped the clock at a 59.79 over Osman’s 59.89.<\/p>\n Hannah Saiz\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.30) and\u00a0Cammile Adams<\/strong> (1:00.39) grabbed the seventh and eighth place seeds.<\/p>\n Santo Condorelli<\/strong> topped prelims of the men’s 100-meter fly with a final 52.76. Condorelli’s time sits just outside of the top 20 world rankings for 2016.<\/p>\n Tim Phillips\u00a0<\/strong>earned the second-place seed with a 53.30 to be the only other swimmer under the 54-second mark.<\/p>\n Third went to\u00a0Albert Subirats<\/strong>, who stopped the clock at a 54.2, while Dylan Bosch<\/strong> grabbed fourth in prelims with a 54.08.<\/p>\n Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> grabbed the fifth place seed with a 54.10, just ahead of\u00a0Carl Weigley<\/strong> (54.35).<\/p>\n Bryce Bohman<\/strong>, one of the top qualifiers in the men’s 50 back, posted a 54.61 to grab the seventh place seed.<\/p>\n Matthew Josa<\/strong> was eighth with a 54.91.<\/p>\n Cammile Adams\u00a0<\/strong>topped the women’s 400-meter IM prelims with a 4:44.96. Joining her in tonight’s final will be\u00a0Rose Bi\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Kate Mills<\/strong>. Bi stopped the clock at a 4:46.81 over Mills’ 4:46.98 to be the only other two swimmers under the 4:50 mark.<\/p>\n Lindsay Clary<\/strong> grabbed the fourth place seed in tonight’s ‘A’ final with a 4:50.39, just ahead of\u00a0Emma Barksdale<\/strong> and her time of 4:50.42.<\/p>\n Kaitlyn Jones<\/strong> posted a 4:51.96 to return as the sixth place seed, while a duo of 4:52’s round out the top eight.\u00a0Monika Gonzalez Hermosillo<\/strong> (4:52.60) and\u00a0Rachael Bradford-Feldman<\/strong> (4:52.97) finished seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n Tom Peribonio\u00a0<\/strong>soared ahead of the competition in prelims of the men’s 400-meter IM. Peribonio stopped hte clock at a 4:18.72 to finish almost six second ahead of\u00a0Ryan Lochte<\/strong>. Lochte grabbed the second place seed with a 4:24.71.<\/p>\n Michael Weiss<\/strong> posted a 4:26.16 to earn the third place seed, just ahead of\u00a0Ian Rainey’s\u00a0<\/strong>4:26.54.<\/p>\n Kieran Smith\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a time of 4:27.24 to earn the fifth place seed in tonight’s final, while\u00a0Cameron Stitt<\/strong> grabbed sixth with a 4:29.09.<\/p>\n Jarrett Jones<\/strong> (4:30.54) and\u00a0Alaril Levreault-Lopez<\/strong> (4:31.31) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Everything you need to follow along with prelims of day one of the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Charlotte.
