Everything you need to follow along with day one prelims of the 2016 Atlanta Classic.<\/p>\n
Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n Hit refresh for all of the latest coverage!<\/p>\n Distance phenom\u00a0Katie Ledecky<\/strong> soared ahead of the competition in prelims of the women’s 200-meter free. Ledecky stopped the clock at 1:54.85 to grab the top seed for tonight’s final. Her time sits close to her 2016 best of 1:54.43 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Series.<\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Simone Manuel<\/strong> cranked out a 1:59.35 to post the second fastest time of the morning.<\/p>\n Shannon Vreeland<\/strong> and\u00a0Brittany MacLean<\/strong> turned in similar times for third and fourth in prelims. Vreeland posted a 1:59.86 over MacLean’s 1:59.91 for third and fourth respectively. MacLean has posted a 1:56 this year at the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials and could very well lower her prelims time tonight.<\/p>\n Hali Flickinger<\/strong> grabbed fifth going into tonight’s final with a 2:00.04, while\u00a0Sarah Henry<\/strong> was sixth this morning with a 2:00.43.<\/p>\n Shauna Lee<\/strong> (2:01.11) and\u00a0Madisyn Cox<\/strong> (2:01.34) return as seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n The men kept a tight field in prelims of the 200-meter free with tonight’s top four qualifiers posting times within .03 seconds of each other.\u00a0Jack Conger<\/strong> claimed the top seed with a 1:50.84, just ahead of teammate and NCAA 200 free champion\u00a0Townley Haas<\/strong> (1:50.86).<\/p>\n Walker Higgins<\/strong> and\u00a0Jay Litherland<\/strong> posted matching times of 1:50.87 for third.<\/p>\n Jacob Pebley<\/strong> of Cal grabbed fifth in prelims with a 1:51.08, while\u00a0Kevin Litherland<\/strong> finished sixth with a 1:51.20.<\/p>\n Cal’s Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:51.27, good for seventh in tonight’s A final.\u00a0Matthew Adams<\/strong> rounded out the top eight with a 1:51.33.<\/p>\n Molly Hannis\u00a0<\/strong>posted the only 1:07 in this morning’s prelims of the women’s 100-meter breaststroke, stopping the clock at a 1:07.77. Hannis currently sits at fourth in the world rankings for 2016 after posting a 1:06.16 at the Southern Premier in Knoxville.<\/p>\n Breeja Larson<\/strong> grabbed the second place seed with a time of 1:08.04, while\u00a0Melanie Margalis<\/strong> posted a 1:09.32 to earn herself the third place seed.<\/p>\n Laura Sogar\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in prelims with a 1:10.00, and\u00a0Annie Zhu\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the fifth place seed with a 1:11.17.<\/p>\n Kayla Brumbaum<\/strong> (1:11.29),\u00a0Allie Raab<\/strong> (1:11.32), and\u00a0Emily Cameron\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.83) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n Andrew Wilson<\/strong> led prelims of the men’s 100-meter breaststroke posting the top qualifying time, by more than a second, at a 1:01.41. Wilson currently sits at twelfth in the world rankings for 2016 with a 59.91 from the American SC Meet in Austin, TX.<\/p>\n Reece Whitley<\/strong> finished second overall this morning with a 1:02.56, while\u00a0Moises Loschi<\/strong> grabbed the third place seed with a 1:03.07.<\/p>\n Chuck Katis<\/strong> posted a 1:03.13 to earn the fourth place seed, jsut ahead of\u00a0Wyatt Hodges<\/strong>‘ fifth place prelims finish of 1:03.69.<\/p>\n Brad Craig<\/strong> turned in a 1:03.77 to return as sixth in tonight’s ‘A’ final.<\/p>\n Derek Hren<\/strong> (1:04.05) and\u00a0Cameron Conners<\/strong> (1:04.15) finished seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n The women’s 100-meter fly was a close field with the top six qualifiers posting sub-1:01 finishes.\u00a0Lauren Case<\/strong> turned in the top time, stopping the clock at a 1:00.06.<\/p>\n Hali Flickinger<\/strong> and\u00a0Felicia Lee<\/strong> posted similar times to earn the second and third place seeds in tonight’s ‘A’ final. Flickinger stopped the clock at a 1:00.27 over Lee’s 1:00.29.<\/p>\n Beryl Gastaldello<\/strong> turned in a 1:00.48 to earn the fourth place seed, while\u00a0Christine Bechtel\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Abby Meyers<\/strong> delivered matching times to tie for the fifth place seed. Bechtel and Meyers both stopped the clock at a 1:00.93.<\/p>\n Krista Duffield<\/strong> (1:01.06) and\u00a0Natalie Labonge<\/strong> (1:01.07) completed the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n Tom Shields<\/strong> of Cal Aquatics delivered the top time of the morning, stopping the clock at a 52.54. His time sits just outside of the top 20 world rankings for 2016.<\/p>\n NCAA champion\u00a0Joseph Schooling<\/strong> bested teammate\u00a0Jack Conger<\/strong> to earn the second-place seed for tonight’s final. Schooling posted a 53.23, while Conger finished fourth i prelims with a 53.49.<\/p>\n Luis Martinez<\/strong> earned the third place seed with a 53.46.<\/p>\n Eugene Godsoe<\/strong> and\u00a0Gunnar Bentz<\/strong> rounded out the sub-54 swims with times of 53.77 and 53.88 respectively, good for fifth and sixth in tonight’s final.<\/p>\n Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> squeezed into the ‘A’ final with a 54.23 finish, while\u00a0David Williams\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight with a 54.35.<\/p>\n The women’s 400-meter IM featured a loaded field with distance and IM stars. NCAA Champion\u00a0Ella Eastin<\/strong> topped the qualifier’s list with a 4:40.70, sitting just outside of the top 20 world rankings for 2016. Grabbing the second place seed was\u00a0Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, the top seed in the women’s 200 free, with a 4:41.00. Finishing close behind Ledecky for the third place seed was\u00a0Maya DiRado\u00a0<\/strong>with a 4:41.63.<\/p>\n Sarah Henry<\/strong> turned in a 4:43.89 for the fourth place seed, while\u00a0Elizabeth Beisel\u00a0<\/strong>finished fifth in prelims with a 4:45.21.<\/p>\n Mia Nonnenberg<\/strong> grabbed sixth with a 4:45.76, just ahead of\u00a0Emily Cameron’s\u00a0<\/strong>4:46.28.<\/p>\n Kathryn Painter<\/strong> was eighth in prelims with a 4:49.56.<\/p>\n Sean Grieshop\u00a0<\/strong>topped the competition in prelims of the men’s 400 IM with a time of 4:21.31.<\/p>\n Posting the second fastest time of the morning was\u00a0Josh Prenot\u00a0<\/strong>with a 4:23.38.<\/p>\n A duo of 4:24’s earned the third and fourth place seeds.\u00a0Sebastien Rousseau<\/strong> grabbed the third place seed with a 4:24.04, while\u00a0Jay Litherland<\/strong> finished fourth with a 4:24.88.<\/p>\n Marton Barta<\/strong> grabbed the fifth place seed in tonight’s final with a 4:26.11.<\/p>\n Austin Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>(4:27.04) and\u00a0Colt Williamson<\/strong> (4:27.15) return as seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n All results can be found on Meet Mobile.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Everything you need to follow along with day one prelims of the 2016 Atlanta Classic.
