PHOENIX, Arizona, January 30. THE College Swim Coaches Association of America has released the latest edition of its Coaches Dual Meet Rankings. Here is the CSCAA's press release along with its coaches poll:<\/p>\n
There has been a lot of exciting action in the pool as the dual meet season has just a few weeks remaining. The women from top-ranked Georgia most recently travelled to face No. 7 Tennessee in an SEC showdown of two top 10 programs. The Bulldogs handed the Lady Vols their first loss of the season, 158-142. The ACC saw action between conference rivals in a battle pitting No. 11 Virginia against No. 15 North Carolina. The Wahoos were able to claim victory with a score of 182.5-117.5 over the Tar Heels.<\/p>\n
No. 1 Texas leads the men's poll despite being idle since the last rankings. The Longhorns are preparing to battle last season's NCAA champions, No. 4 Arizona, this weekend in Austin. In top 10 action, the No. 5 Auburn defeated No. 8 Florida by a score of 166-132. Other top 25 action saw No. 13 Louisville take victory for the first time in program history over in-state rival No. 22 Kentucky, 178-120.<\/p>\n
This year's poll will be published eight times and the champion will be crowned on February 26, 2009. Pollsters representing eight conferences along with two at-large voters have the task of ranking the top dual meet teams in the nation throughout the season. Additionally, the group of pollsters is completely different for the men's and women's rankings. This poll should not be confused with the results of the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships that will take place in March.<\/i><\/p>\n
