He is now motivated to do well in the 200 individually and wants to make the most of that\u00a0opportunity in Rio, where he will be swimming the 200\u00a0and\u00a0the relay.<\/p>\n<p>At the 2016 French Olympic Open National Championships (also the Olympic Trials), Agnel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-watch-controversial-yannick-agnel-200-free-from-france\/\" target=\"_blank\">appeared to touch second<\/a>\u00a0in the 200 freestyle. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/controversy-reigns-as-defending-200-free-olympic-champ-yannick-agnel-could-be-out-after-3rd-at-trials\/\" target=\"_blank\">official results showed\u00a0<\/a><strong>Jeremy Stravius\u00a0<\/strong>as the winner and\u00a0<strong>Jordan Pothian\u00a0<\/strong>in second. That left Agnel in third place without an individual Olympic invitation.<\/p>\n<p>Agnel appealed the ruling, though that appeal\u00a0was denied. He had a similar issue after his morning swim. His time did not register, possibly because he finished too low on the touchpad.
