{"id":200511,"date":"2016-05-06T09:55:24","date_gmt":"2016-05-06T16:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=200511"},"modified":"2016-05-06T09:55:24","modified_gmt":"2016-05-06T16:55:24","slug":"8-meet-records-fall-out-of-10-events-at-day-2-of-the-malaysia-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/8-meet-records-fall-out-of-10-events-at-day-2-of-the-malaysia-open\/","title":{"rendered":"8 Meet Records Fall Out of 10 Events at Day 2 of the Malaysia Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the second day of the 59th Malaysia Open Swimming Championship eight meet records fell, in a day that only had ten events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephanie Au Hoi-Shun\u00a0<\/strong>won the women&#8217;s 50 backstroke in meet record time, stopping the clock in 28.53.\u00a0<strong>Wai Ting Yu\u00a0<\/strong>was second in a 29.83 while\u00a0<strong>Caroline Chan\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 29.92.<\/p>\n<p>The meet record also fell in the men&#8217;s 50 backstroke as\u00a0<strong>I Gede Siman S Sudartawa\u00a0<\/strong>powered his way to a 25.17, well ahead of second place\u00a0<strong>Tern Jian Han\u00a0<\/strong>in 26.55 and\u00a0<strong>Tzi Rok Wong\u00a0<\/strong>in 27.50.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camille Lily Mei Cheng\u00a0<\/strong>won her second event in as many days, setting a 200 freestyle meet record with her time of 2:00.23.\u00a0<strong>Sagita Putri Krisdewanti\u00a0<\/strong>earned silver\u00a0in 2:05.53.\u00a0<strong>Raina Saumi Grahana\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 2:06.52 for bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Welson Sim Wee Sheng\u00a0<\/strong>won the men&#8217;s 200 freestyle in another meet record time of 1:48.46. Second place went to\u00a0<strong>Cheung Kin Tat Kent\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:51.82.\u00a0<strong>Zheng Yang Yeap\u00a0<\/strong>secured third in 1:52.09.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phee Jinq En\u00a0<\/strong>continued the meet record setting streak of the evening, winning the 50 breaststroke in 32.06.\u00a0<strong>Erika Kong\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 32.91 and\u00a0<strong>Vanessa At Evato\u00a0<\/strong>won bronze with a 33.86.<\/p>\n<p>For the men,\u00a0<strong>Sandeep Sejwal\u00a0<\/strong>won in a new meet record time of 28.34, ahead of\u00a0<strong>Indra Gunawan\u00a0<\/strong>(28.46) and\u00a0<strong><\/strong><strong>Kwok Ka Fai<\/strong> (29.02).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bisp-swimmer-eing-returns-from-thailand-national-games-with-6-golds\/\" target=\"_blank\">Phiangkhwan Pawapotako<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>won the women&#8217;s 200 IM by three seconds, touching in 2:18.41.\u00a0<strong>Ressa Kania Dewi\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 2:21.51 for second, just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Erika Kong\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:21.68.<\/p>\n<p>With a 2:02.16,\u00a0<strong>Triady Fauzi Sidiq\u00a0<\/strong>finished well ahead of the field in the men&#8217;s 200 IM.\u00a0<strong><\/strong><strong>Muhammad Hamgari<\/strong> placed second with a 2:06.13. Third went to\u00a0<strong>Ayman Klezi\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:08.13.<\/p>\n<p>The meet records fell in both 800 freestyle relays. On the women&#8217;s side, the Hong Kong team of\u00a0<strong>Chan Kin Lok,\u00a0Yu Wai Ting<\/strong>, Cheng, and <strong>Sze Hang Yu<\/strong> finished in 8:20.29, 12 seconds under the old record. Indonesia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ricky Anggawidjaja<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Satrio Bagaskara<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Aflah Fadlan Prawira<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Putera Muhammad Randa\u00a0<\/strong>won by nearly 20 seconds, in a 7:44.00.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the second day of the 59th Malaysia Open Swimming Championship eight meet records fell, in a day that only had ten events.
