FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas, January 23. FOR the second straight meet, Yi Ting Siow blew away her competition, winning all three of her events (100 breast, 200 breast, 400 IM) once again as the No. 19 Razorbacks (9-1, 3-1) dismissed the Kansas Jayhawks 165-135. Siow set a school record and career-best time of 1:01.68, an NCAA \u2018B' cut time, in the 100 breast and her winning time of 2:12.04 in the 200 breast was her fastest in-season time and gave her a second \u2018B' cut time of the day. Siow's third win came in the 400 IM (4:18.58).<\/p>\n
In the first race of the day, Siow swam the leadoff leg for a 200 medley relay team that finished first in a time of 1:43.96, the fourth-fastest time in Arkansas history. Siow was joined on the relay team by Leah Pierce, Katie Kastes and Lynette Ng.<\/p>\n
"Yi Ting had a very solid meet today," said head Razorbacks coach Jeff Poppell. "After leading-off our winning 200 medley relay team, she followed up with a lifetime best time and school record time in the 100 breaststroke. She later won the 200 breaststroke with an in-season-best time and the 400 IM with a strong time given her current level of conditioning. She is definitely moving in the right direction heading into SEC Championships."<\/p>\n
The Razorbacks took the first four places in the 500-and 1650 free events as well, key races that put them out of the Jayhawks' reach.<\/p>\n
"We had one of our best dual meets of the year today," Poppell said. "The highlight of the meet for me was our win in the 200 medley relay. On paper, Kansas had been much faster than us this season, however, we were able to do some things a bit differently which resulted in a spectacular performance. The other highlights for me were our one through four finishes in the 1650 free and 500 free."<\/p>\n
The Razorbacks also recorded two personal bests by freshmen divers on Thursday. Freshmen divers Alex Roman and Liana Bugslag had career days on the one-meter and three-meter springboards, respectively. Roman finished seventh in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 220.65 and Bugslag put up a 255.30 in the three-meter event, coming in third. Senior Madison Palmer had the best finishes for the Razorbacks in diving, finishing second in the three-meter diving event (296.18) and placing third on the one-meter springboard (266.93).<\/p>\n
"We dove better this meet than we did against Kentucky and Missouri," diving coach Dale Schultz said. "Liana had her best meet of the season and Madison is going to begin competing with the same dives she did in the fall competitions, which will give us some extra points on the boards as well."<\/p>\n
In the pool, freshman Katie Davis swam a career-best 2:04.22 in the 200 back, touching in second.<\/p>\n
"Our performances today should help provide all our swimmers and divers with a lot of confidence heading into our postseason championships," Poppell said.<\/p>\n
