This is a major accomplishment on the diving side, as <strong>Oliver Dingley, Natasha MacManus, <\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jack Ffrench<\/strong>\u00a0will be Ireland&#8217;s first representation at the European Championship in nearly 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the diving campaign is Dingley. He has already qualified for Rio, and will be Ireland&#8217;s first diving Olympian in 68 years.<\/p>\n<p>Head diving coach, <strong>Damian Ball<\/strong>, said, that all of Ireland had been &#8220;lifted&#8221; by Dingley&#8217;s accomplishment. Yet, he notes, &#8220;The Euro&#8217;s will be a tough challenge for Ireland&#8217;s divers, there&#8217;s no getting away from that, but we will enjoy the ride together and see where it takes us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For the swimmers, three Olympic qualifiers will represent the nation, in addition to nine others hoping to earn a trip to Rio.\u00a0<strong>Fiona Doyle\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Quinn\u00a0<\/strong>have already secured their Olympic berths.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shane Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>has earned his Olympic A times, but his participation is not yet guaranteed. The dual-citizen represented the United States at the Duel in the Pool in 2013, before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/shane-ryan-makes-life-changing-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\">choosing to represent Ireland<\/a> internationally, to improve his chances of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/former-u-s-national-team-member-shane-ryan-looking-to-represent-ireland-at-2016-olympics\/\" target=\"_blank\">making the 2016 Games<\/a>. Ryan&#8217;s year long waiting period should end on May 13, three days before the start of the swimming portion of the European Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conor Ferguson\u00a0<\/strong>is another hoping to join his teammates in Rio. Last week, he came painfully close to the FINA A time, missing it by .05 in the 100 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>The other swimmers are\u00a0<strong>Sycerika McMahon<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dan Sweeney<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alex Murphy<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jordan Sloan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Brendan Hyland<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Curtis Coulter<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Danielle Hill<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Mona McSharry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Swim Ireland contributed to this report.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swim Ireland has announced a roster of 15 that will compete in the 2016 LEN European Championships.
