CLEVELAND, Ohio, January 17. JUNIOR Marcin Unold led the men with three first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (51.82), 200 back (1:52.93) and as lead-off in the 200 medley relay (1:32.27), freshman Alyssa Vela (1:56.16 in the 200 free and 5:10.06 in the 500 free) and sophomore Kelli Dewey (1:50.34 in 200 medley relay and 25.06 in the 50 free) had two first-place finishes apiece and the Golden Grizzlies swept top honors in all diving events as the Oakland University men's and women's swimming and diving teams routed Cleveland State University Friday by scores of 173.5-118.5 for the men and 172-120 for the women. <\/p>\n
Other individual top finishes for the men's team came from senior Aaron Holdsworth in the 200 free (1:43.19), freshman Anders Jensen in the 200 butterfly (1:54.67) and senior Andy Kellogg in the 100 free (46.36). <\/p>\n
The men's team also won both of the relays they competed in, with a time of 1:32.27 in the 200 medley relay (Unold, Kellogg, Holdsworth, senior Nicholas Bonucchi) and the 400 free relay (senior Alex Brinks, freshman Ben Vavra, seniors Steven Catala and Anthony Serio) with a time of 3:13.90. <\/p>\n
Women that finished with the top prize in individual events were junior Agnes Solan in the 1000 free (10:22.87), junior Sarah Ludema in the 100 back (59.83), freshman Johanna Gustafsson in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.07) and sophomore Jennifer Ruman in the 200 IM (2:18.92). <\/p>\n
Oakland also took the top spot in both diving events for the men and women. Freshman Marcella Barretta notched first place finishes in both the one-meter and three-meter boards with marks of 257.52 and 226.05, respectively, while for the men, freshman Joe Smith won the one-meter (242.02) and junior Adam Ralph took the top spot in the three-meter (255.67).<\/p>\n
