{"id":199802,"date":"2016-04-30T19:25:46","date_gmt":"2016-05-01T02:25:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=199802"},"modified":"2016-04-30T19:25:46","modified_gmt":"2016-05-01T02:25:46","slug":"katie-mclaughlin-tops-200-free-at-tyr-fran-crippen-swim-meet-of-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-mclaughlin-tops-200-free-at-tyr-fran-crippen-swim-meet-of-champions\/","title":{"rendered":"Katie McLaughlin Tops 200 Free at TYR Fran Crippen Swim Meet of Champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There were no new meet records on night three finals at the 2016 TYR Fran Crippen Swim Meet of Champions, but there were still a number of quick swims.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katie McLaughlin\u00a0<\/strong>cracked the two minute barrier, posting a winning time of 1:59.74 in the A final of the 200 freestyle.\u00a0<strong>Kirsten Vose\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind in 2:00.07. 800 freestyle champion\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Peacock\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a 2:00.26.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Domagala\u00a0<\/strong>was first to the wall in the men&#8217;s 200 freestyle, touching in 1:49.31.\u00a0<strong>Grant Shoults\u00a0<\/strong>battled for second, finishing in 1:50.54, ahead of\u00a0<strong>Reed Malone\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:50.99.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Riley Scott\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0<strong>Madeleine Vonderhaar\u00a0<\/strong>2:31.49 to 2:31.76 to claim the women&#8217;s 200 breaststroke title.\u00a0<strong>Isabella Odgers\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the podium with her time of 2:34.35.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 200 breaststroke event,\u00a0<strong>Sean Mahoney\u00a0<\/strong>topped the podium in 2:17.91.\u00a0<strong>Azad Al-barazi\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:18.50 while\u00a0<strong>Zachary Yong\u00a0<\/strong>placed third in 2:20.98.<\/p>\n<p>This morning\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>matched the world&#8217;s 19th best 50 freestyle in 24.80, a new meet record. Tonight she posted a 25.07, still good enough for the win.\u00a0<strong>Liliana Ibanez\u00a0<\/strong>swam the second fastest time, stopping the clock in 25.54.\u00a0<strong>Jessica Hardy\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 25.70. That time was faster than the 25.79 she posted in prelims at the Arena Pro Swim Mesa, before withdrawing from finals after suffering a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jessica-hardy-suffers-concussion-at-arena-pro-swim-series-mesa\/\" target=\"_blank\">concussion in warm ups<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick Soedel\u00a0<\/strong>won the men&#8217;s splash and dash in 22.77.\u00a0<strong>Griffin Schumacher\u00a0<\/strong>earned silver in 23.11, while\u00a0<strong>Justin Lynch\u00a0<\/strong>snatched third in 23.33.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Haley Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>used a strong back half to win the women&#8217;s 400 IM with a 4:48.19.\u00a0<strong>Celina Li\u00a0<\/strong>lead after backstroke, and finished second in 4:50.80.\u00a0<strong>Katie Glavinovich\u00a0<\/strong>completed the podium with a 4:52.49.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Max Williamson<\/strong>\u00a0destroyed the field with a 1:13.4 breaststroke leg, topping the men&#8217;s 400 IM in 4:20.78.
