In the second day of action at the 2016 US Masters Nationals, 20 short course yards national records fell in 13 events.<\/p>\n
Fall Willeboordse\u00a0<\/strong>set the 50-54 year old\u00a0women’s national record in the 100 IM, touching in 1:01.28, faster than her own record set two weeks ago. In the 100 freestyle, Willeboordse posted a 53.60, nearly a second faster than the 54.38 record from 2002.\u00a0Charlotte Davis\u00a0<\/strong>set a 65-69 year old national record in the 100 IM\u00a0with her time of 1:10.09, well under the old record of 1:12.22. She also set a new national mark in her 100 freestyle, finishing in 1:00.49.\u00a0Johnnie Detrick <\/strong>also set a women’s 80-84 100 IM national record in with a 1:42.51.<\/p>\n Mike Freshley\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 1:08.70 to set a new national record for the 75-79 year old men’s 100 IM.\u00a0Thomas Maine\u00a0<\/strong>reset the national mark for the 90-94 year olds with his time of 1:53.38.<\/p>\n In the 200 breaststroke,\u00a0Nicholas Granger\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 2:07.40 to earn the national record for the 45-49 year old men.\u00a0Robert Strand\u00a0<\/strong>was a record setter in the 70-74 year olds division with a 2:35.66.\u00a0Mike Freshley\u00a0<\/strong>also completed the feat for the following age group, 75-79, with his 2:45.33.<\/p>\n Yoshi Oyakawa\u00a0<\/strong>was the only national record setter in the men’s or women’s 50 backstroke when he posted a 34.49 in the 80-84 year old men’s event.<\/p>\n Cecilia McCloskey\u00a0<\/strong>finished the 65-69 year old’s 200 fly in a new national record of 2:51.20.\u00a0David Sims\u00a0<\/strong>cleared his own national mark from a year ago with his 1:58.49 in the 50-54 year olds category.\u00a0Lawrence Day\u00a0<\/strong>dominated his 65-69 year old division with a new national record of 2:13.55. 90 year old\u00a0Thomas Maine\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 4:44.76 to best his own mark.<\/p>\n The Olympic Club’s 25+ mixed 200 freestyle relay set a new national record of 1:28.83 with the team of\u00a0Christopher Burckle<\/strong>,\u00a0Katie Kastes<\/strong>,\u00a0Fiona O’Donnell-McCarthy<\/strong>, and\u00a0Andrew Saeta<\/strong>. The quartet swam their names into the record books again in the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:16.12.<\/p>\n Kevin Gallagher<\/strong>,\u00a0Kyle Loughran<\/strong>,\u00a0Katie Grier<\/strong>, and\u00a0Gabrielle Mizerak\u00a0<\/strong>combined for a record setting 3:14.92 for 1693 in the 18+ division of the mixed 400 freestyle relay. TOC’s A and B squads also cleared the three year old mark of 3:24.53. The top two teams cleared the mark for the 35+ grouping.\u00a0Henry Stewart, Erica Braun<\/strong>,\u00a0Kerry Lindauer<\/strong>, and\u00a0Van Fletcher\u00a0<\/strong>were first to the wall, however, in a 3:26.42.<\/p>\n Two teams again cleared the old record for swimmers age 45 and up.
