These swimmers were selected based on their performances at last week&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2016-russian-nationals\" target=\"_blank\">Russian Nationals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s team is lead by\u00a0<strong>Daria Ustinova<\/strong>, who posted the world&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/daria-k-ustinova-blazes-way-to-3rd-in-world-in-200-back-206-92\/\" target=\"_blank\">3rd best 200 backstroke<\/a> at Nationals.\u00a0<strong>Svetlana Chimrova\u00a0<\/strong>set the Russian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/svetlana-chimrova-breaks-russian-record-100-fly-57-79\/\" target=\"_blank\">100 fly record<\/a> at the meet as well.<\/p>\n<p>Those two women are joined by <strong>Sofia Andreeva, Viktoriya Andreeva, Daria Chikunova, Anastasiya Fesikova, Natalya Lovtsova, Daria Mullakaeva, Rozaliya Nasretdinova, Arina Openysheva,<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0Veronika Popova<\/strong> for a total of 11 women.<\/p>\n<p>The men will be taking 19 swimmers. Sprinter <strong>Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> highlights the men&#8217;s roster after his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/vlad-morozov-races-way-8th-world-100-free-48-09\/\" target=\"_blank\">performances at Nationals<\/a>.\u00a0<strong>Evgeny Koptelov\u00a0<\/strong>will bring some<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/performance-of-the-week-evgeny-rylovs-200-backstroke\/\" target=\"_blank\"> backstroke speed<\/a> to Brazil. Though not an Olympic event,\u00a0<strong>Grigoriy Tarasevich<\/strong> swam the world&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/grigory-tarasevich-posts-2nd-best-50-back-in-world-24-70\/\" target=\"_blank\">second\u00a0best 50 backstroke<\/a>, and later the fifth best <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/grigory-tarasevich-sprints-5th-world-100-back-53-03\/\" target=\"_blank\">100<\/a>,\u00a0last week. He is joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kirill-prigoda-sets-new-national-record-at-russian-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\">National record setter<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vyacheslav Andrusenko, Anton Chupkov, Mikhail Dovgaluk, Andrey Grechin, Danila Izotov, Ilya Khomenko, Alexander Krasnykh, Nikita Lobintsev, Aleksandr Popkov, Yaroslav Potapov, Evgeni Rilov, Aleksandr Sadovnikov, Andrey Shabasov, Aleksandr Sukhorukov, <\/strong>and<strong> Vsevolod Zanko<\/strong> complete the team.<\/p>\n<p>Nine other swimmers still have a chance of also boarding the plane to Rio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yulia Efimova\u00a0<\/strong>is currently serving an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fina-maintains-provisional-suspension-of-yuliya-efimova\/\" target=\"_blank\">anti-doping suspension<\/a>, but will be named to the team if that is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/yulia-efimovas-agent-we-filed-a-reguest-to-lift-temporary-suspension\/\" target=\"_blank\">repealed in time<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Four swimmers did not meet Olympic A standards, but the Federation has recommended that they be named to the team. Those swimmers are\u00a0<strong>Aleksei Brianskii, Ilya Druzhinin, Semen Makovich <\/strong>and<strong> Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natalia Ivaneeva, Aleksandr Osipenko, Nikolay Skvortsov <\/strong>and<strong> Andrey Zhilkin<\/strong> will have the chance to make the team at the European Championships, beginning May 9 in London.<\/p>\n<p><em>The WSCA contributed to this report.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Russian Swimming Federation named 30 swimmers to the nation&#8217;s roster for the 2016 Olympic Games.
