ACCORDING to an article in the <i>Courier Mail<\/i>, Australian breaststroke ace Jade Edmistone revealed a private fight against cancer \u2013 news that brings the swimming community its second high-profile cancer fight with Eric Shanteau beating testicular cancer into submission this summer.<\/p>\n<p>According to the article, Edmistone went to the doctor for a routine Pap smear that led to the discovery that she had cancer.  She has since had surgery to remove the disease.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The only reason I found out was I missed out on the Olympic team,&quot; Edmistone told the <i>Courier Mail<\/i>, &quot;I thought it would be a good reason to go and get a vaccine for cervical cancer because I had a bit of time off from swimming, and if there were any side-effects it wouldn&#39;t matter as much. So I went in, did that and had a Pap smear at the same time. It was about a week later that the doctor rang and said I needed to go and see him.
