AUSTIN, Texas, December 12. DURING the second night of finals of the USA Swimming Short Course Junior Nationals, North Bay's Deborah Roth, 16, checked in with a sterling time in the women's 100 back.<\/p>\n
Roth's performance of 53.55 would have put her into the A finals at the NCAA Division I Championships in 2008. Roth, who is a member of the Class of 2010 recruiting pool, earned her promotion to the elite six-star status in the Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings powered by Take Your Marks<\/i>.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 medley relay<\/b>
\nBaylor's Arden Pitman, Alison Lusk, Anna Gwarjanski and Sloane Pitman clocked a swift time of 1:41.83 for the win. The Bolles School's Aubrey Peacock, Caitlin Mumford, Megan Fonteno and Dana Nessler finished second in 1:42.06, while Lake Oswego's Karen Turner, Amy Wiley, Mackenzie Luick and Grace Carlson took third in 1:42.63.<\/p>\n
Baylor's team broke the 15-18 U.S. national age group record of 1:43.16 set by Lake Country in 2005.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 medley relay<\/b>
\nThe Bolles School's Raymond Depadua, Tommy Gutman, Timmy Romano and Matt Schlytter snagged the title in 1:30.77, while Fleet's Cole Cragin, Charlie Moore, Hunter Bayley and Shea Kenny took second in 1:32.02. Baylor's Reese Shirey, Spencer Rowe, Greg Roop and Josh Sosna placed third in 1:33.12.<\/p>\n
Women's 400 IM<\/b>
\nSalmon Bay's Amber McDermott, 15, remained on fire with her third title of the meet. She clocked a quick time of 4:11.36, while Magnolia's Cammile Adams, 17, claimed second in 4:13.84. Colorado Stars' Missy Franklin, 13, completed the top three in 4:16.78.<\/p>\n

\nSpokane YMCA's Mason Shaw, 16, snagged the distance medley title with a time of 3:50.45. Baylor's Martin Grodzki, 17, turned in a second-place time of 3:51.66, while Palo Alto's Ben Hinshaw, 17, picked up third in 3:53.98.<\/p>\n

\nAlamo Area's Lily Moldenhauer, 17, blazed the pool with a first-place time of 53.17. Atlantis' Jessica Guro, 17, placed second in 53.93, while Bearcat's Tori Simenec, 16, touched just behind with a third-place 53.95.<\/p>\n

\nMason Makos' Sean Fletcher, 17, touched out Brophy East's John Wojciechowski, 16, 47.72 to 47.95. Plano's Paul Leonhardt, 16, placed third in 48.63, the same readout it took Porter Valley's Tony Cox, 18, to win the consolation final.<\/p>\n
