ATLANTA, Georgia, December 6. THE third day of prelims came to a close at the USA Swimming Short Course Nationals held in Atlanta.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 backstroke<\/b>
\nAuburn's Julianne McLane topped qualifying in 1:55.12, while Athens Bulldog Mary DeScenza posted a time of 1:55.88 for second place. Florida State's Stephanie Sarandos (1:56.81) and Florida's Teresa Crippen (1:57.20) finished third and fourth.<\/p>\n
Auburn's Melissa Marik (1:57.60), Rachel Goh (1:57.65), Florida's Stephanie Proud (1:57.75) and SwimAtlanta's Jana Mangimelli (1:57.87) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 backstroke<\/b>
\nDaytona Beach's Ryan Lochte registered a 1:41.89 to lead the way during prelims. Dallas Mustang Matt Thompson finished second in 1:42.63, while Michigan's Tyler Clary (1:43.20) and Andre Schultz (1:44.05) took third and fourth.<\/p>\n
Auburn's Kohlton Norys (1:44.09) and Max Murphy (1:44.30) as well as Florida State's Andrew Hodgson (1:44.83) and Indiana's Eric Ress (1:45.40) grabbed the other transfer spots.<\/p>\n
Women's 100 freestyle<\/b>
\nSwimAtlanta's Amanda Weir posted the top time in 48.21, while Minot's Dagny Knutson finished second in 48.49. Longhorn's Tanica Jamison (48.69) and SwimFlorida's Erika Erndl (49.11) touched third and fourth.<\/p>\n
Springfield YMCA's Margo Geer (49.26), Louisville's Whitney Campbell (49.31), Tide's Rebecca Jones (49.36) and KING's Ariana Kukors (49.36) made up the rest of the top eight.<\/p>\n
Men's 100 freestyle<\/b>
\nTucson Ford's Matt Grevers clocked a quick time of 42.37, while Auburn's Matt Targett placed second in 42.91. New Trier's Kyle Bubolz finished third in 42.99, while Yale's Alex Righi touched fourth in 43.04.<\/p>\n
Auburn's Gideon Louw (43.10), Daytona Beach's Ryan Lochte (43.13), California's William Copeland (43.16) and Tucson Ford's Masayuki Kishida (43.33) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 breaststroke<\/b>
\nKING's Ariana Kukors qualified first in 2:10.55, while Suburban's Corrie Clark took second in 2:10.63. George Mason's Ashley Danner (2:12.18) and Brophy's Christine Olson (2:12.35) placed third and fourth.<\/p>\n
Lakeside's Elizabeth Tinnon (2:12.95), KING's Lindsey Marchand (2:13.33), Auburn's Micah Lawrence (2:14.10) and Asphalt Green's Annie Zhu (2:14.61) also made the A final.<\/p>\n

\nStephanie Horner (1:56.41) and Athens Bulldog Mary DeScenza (1:56.66) placed first and second, while Palo Alto's Yumi So (1:56.87) and Auburn's Ava Ohlgren (1:57.51) took third and fourth.<\/p>\n
Indiana's Brittany Barwegen (1:58.86) and Amanda Smith (1:59.39) as well as Express' Adrienne Bicek (1:59.56) and Florida's Teresa Crippen (1:59.74) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n
