Men’s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Coming into today, four swimmers had already cleared the FINA A cut of 48.99 at the Brazil Open.<\/p>\n Nicolas Oliveira<\/strong> (48.41), Matheus Santana<\/strong> (48.71), Marcelo Chierighini<\/strong> (48.72) and Alan Vitoria<\/strong> (48.96) already were in the mixed for the two individual Olympic spots, as well as relay duty.<\/p>\n Chierighini improved his time with a ninth-ranked 48.20 in prelims, while Oliveira did the same with a 48.30 to move to 11th in the world.<\/p>\n Joao De Lucca<\/strong> moved into contention with a third-seeded 48.59, while Canada’s Santo Condorelli<\/strong> also made finals in 48.78.<\/p>\n Gabriel Santos<\/strong> (48.89) and Cesar Cielo<\/strong> (48.97) also cleared the FINA A cut, while Pedro Silva<\/strong> (49.30) and Argentina’s Federico Grabich<\/strong> (49.30) also made finals.<\/p>\n Women’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n Joanna Maranhao<\/strong> is the closest Brazilian to the FINA A cut of 2:09.33 with a 2:09.38 from the Brazil Open. \u00a0She didn’t do much this morning as she cruised into finals with a 2:11.76.<\/p>\n Argentina’s Virginia Bardach<\/strong> qualified second in 2:14.95 with China’s Li Shuang<\/strong> taking third in 2:18.28.<\/p>\n Maria Pessanha<\/strong> (2:20.27), Giovanna Tomanik<\/strong> (2:20.41), Beatriz Dizotti<\/strong> (2:20.70), Carolina Tomanik<\/strong> (2:20.94) and Fernanda Ribeiro<\/strong> (2:21.07) also earned spots in the finale.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n After this morning, Brazil now has two potential Olympians in the men’s 200-meter breast. \u00a0Thiago Simon<\/strong> came into the meet with a FINA A cut 2:11.29 from the Brazil Open.<\/p>\n Today, Tales Cerdeira<\/strong> joined him with a 2:10.99 to also beat the FINA A cut of 2:11.66.<\/p>\n Thiago Pereira<\/strong> qualified second in 2:12.13 with Felipe Lima<\/strong> posting a third-seeded 2:12.78.<\/p>\n Ippei Miyamoto<\/strong> (2:12.81), Felipe Franca<\/strong>\u00a0(2:13.31), Henrique Marques<\/strong> (2:13.91), Matheus Neto<\/strong> (2:14.33) and Simon (2:15.49) rounded out the rest of the finalists.<\/p>\n SCHEDULED EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n Live coverage of day four\u00a0prelims\u00a0of the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy meet.
