Women’s 200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Larissa Oliveira<\/strong> lowered her own South American record in the women’s 200-meter free at the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy meet.<\/p>\n Oliveira raced her way to a winning time of 1:57.37, clearing Manuella Lyrio’s<\/strong>\u00a0previous record of 1:58.03 from the Brazil Open in December. \u00a0 \u00a0Lyrio’s\u00a0swim guaranteed her a spot on the Brazilian Olympic roster as well, while Oliveira time tonight clinched her a spot as well.<\/p>\n That’s the first time Brazil will ever have a pair of women’s 200 freestylers compete in the Olympics.<\/p>\n Jessica Cavalheiro<\/strong> finished second in 1:59.05, missing the FINA A cut. \u00a0Gabrielle Goncalves<\/strong> placed third in 1:59.22.<\/p>\n Yang Junxuan<\/strong> (1:59.38), Maria Heitmann<\/strong> (1:59.95), Rafaela Raurich<\/strong> (2:00.36), Katarina Listopadova<\/strong> (2:00.46) and Li Liuyuxin<\/strong> (2:01.91) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n Lyrio won the B final in a time of 1:58.62.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n Brazil will have a pair of swimmers in the men’s 200-meter fly at the Rio Olympics as well.<\/p>\n Leonardo De Deus<\/strong> led the way with a 1:55.54 for the win. That swim moved him up to a tie for fifth in the world with Li Zhuhao<\/strong>. \u00a0It also clinched a spot on the Rio Olympic team.<\/p>\n Kaio Almeida<\/strong>, who retired after the 2012 London Olympics completed a successful comeback by making the 2016 squad with a second-place 1:56.21. \u00a0Almeida also competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics after first breaking onto the international scene as an 18 year old at the 2003 World Championships.<\/p>\n Vinicius Lanza<\/strong> took third overall in 1:57.44 with Luiz Altamir Melo<\/strong> placing fourth in 1:57.74.<\/p>\n Kaue Da Silva<\/strong> (1:59.64), Marcos Oliveira<\/strong> (2:00.56), Arthur Mendes<\/strong> (2:01.46) and Ryosuke Iai<\/strong> (2:02.65) also swam tonight.<\/p>\n Women’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n Joanna Maranhao<\/strong> won the women’s 200-meter IM in a time of 2:14.37, which missed the FINA A cut of 2:14.26. \u00a0Luckily for her, she had a 2:14.04 in her back pocket from the December Brazil Open to secure her spot on the Rio Olympic roster.<\/p>\n Czech’s Barbora Zavadova<\/strong> placed second in 2:15.01 with Argentina’s Virginia Bardach<\/strong> taking third in 2:15.13.<\/p>\n Nathalia Almeida<\/strong> (2:15.24), Gabrielle Goncalves<\/strong> (2:15.81), Florencia Perotti<\/strong> (2:17.28), Fernanda Carobino<\/strong> (2:20.33) and Fernanda Goeij<\/strong> (2:20.86) also put up times in the A final.<\/p>\n SCHEDULED EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n Live coverage of day three\u00a0finals of the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy meet.
