Women’s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n Etiene Medeiros<\/strong>, who lost out on a chance to make the Olympic team yesterday by scratching\u00a0the women’s 100-meter fly finals, clinched her spot on the Rio roster with a 1:00.11 in the women’s 100-meter back today.<\/p>\n That, along with her 1:00.00 from prelims, secured her a spot on the Brazilian Olympic roster. \u00a0Medeiros’ personal best is a 59.61 from the 2015 Pan American Games last year.<\/p>\n Katarina Listopadova<\/strong> of Slovakia finished second in 1:00.67, just missing the FINA A cut of 1:00.25. \u00a0Natalia De Luccas<\/strong> placed third overall in 1:01.11.<\/p>\n Maria Pessanha<\/strong> (1:02.63), Daynara De Paula<\/strong> (1:02.83), Ana Zortea<\/strong> (1:03.71), Yang Yifan<\/strong> (1:03.81) and Aline Caetano<\/strong> (1:04.02) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Coming into tonight, Nicolas Oliveira<\/strong> (1:46.97) and Joao De Lucca<\/strong> (1:47.77) had each cleared the FINA A cut of 1:47.97.<\/p>\n This evening, De Lucca won with a time of 1:47.65, but still stood second to Oliveira’s time from prelims for the overall Olympic qualifying.<\/p>\n Felipe De Souza<\/strong> turned in a 1:47.92, but did not leap ahead of De Lucca for the second spot on the Olympic team.<\/p>\n Oliveira placed third tonight in 1:48.17, while Andre Pereira<\/strong> took fourth in 1:48.72. That means De Souza and Pereira each picked up a relay spot on the 800-meter freestyle relay.<\/p>\n Giovanny Lima<\/strong> (1:48.94), Gabriel Ogawa<\/strong> (1:49.63), Joao Amorim<\/strong> (1:49.70) and Federico Grabich<\/strong> (1:50.09) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n Luiz Altamir<\/strong> won the B final in a time of 1:48.29, also making the 800 free relay squad should the team qualify.<\/p>\n Women’s 100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n Argentina’s Macarena Ceballos<\/strong> won the finale in a time of 1:08.03. \u00a0That missed the FINA A cut of 1:07.85 to guarantee a spot on Argentina’s Olympic roster.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Jhennifer Conceicao<\/strong> locked down the breaststroke leg of the Brazilians 400 medley relay with a 1:08.31 for second in the event.<\/p>\n Julia Sebastian<\/strong> claimed third-place honors in 1:08.85 with Ana Carvalho<\/strong> taking fourth overall in 1:09.31.<\/p>\n Beatriz Travalon<\/strong> (1:10.01), Renata Sander<\/strong> (1:10.07), Juliana Marin<\/strong> (1:10.08) and Sae Saito<\/strong> (1:11.31) snared fifth through eighth in the finale.<\/p>\n Men’s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n Guilherme Guido<\/strong>, who already put up a 53.08 South American record in December and a 53.10 during prelims, secured his spot on the Olympic roster with a 53.25 in finals.<\/p>\n Henrique Rodrigues<\/strong> placed second in 54.41, just off the FINA A cut of 54.36, while Vitor Gauraldo<\/strong> captured third-place honors in a time of 54.63.<\/p>\n Leonardo Guedes<\/strong> (54.84), Fabio Santi<\/strong> (54.86), Fernando Santos<\/strong> (54.86), Gabriel Fantoni<\/strong> (55.30) and Henrique Machado<\/strong> (55.78) picked up the rest of the finishes in finals.<\/p>\n Women’s 400 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Manuella Lyrio<\/strong> lowered her own Brazilian record in the women’s 400-meter free at the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy meet.<\/p>\n Lyrio clocked a top time of 4:09.48, clearing her own mark of 4:09.96 from the 2015 Brazil Open.
