Women\u2019s 800 free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>was once again first to the wall, and\u00a0posted the second fastest time in the world this year. She challenged her own world record through the first 400 meters before falling further off the pace.\u00a0Ledecky\u00a0stopped the clock at 8:13.20, still five seconds faster than the next best swimmer in the world this year.<\/p>\n

Lotte Friis\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 8:27.85 while teammate\u00a0Cierra Runge\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 8:32.21.<\/p>\n

Kristel Kobrich\u00a0<\/strong>edged\u00a0Becca Mann\u00a0<\/strong>8:34.24 to 8:35.35.<\/p>\n

Sierra Schmidt<\/strong> (8:37.84),\u00a0Joanna Evans\u00a0<\/strong>(8:48.63), and\u00a0Kaitlin Pawlowicz\u00a0<\/strong>(8:53.90) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n

Katinka\u00a0<\/strong>Hosszu<\/strong> led after fly but Maya Dirado<\/strong> pulled ahead with a great backstroke split and went on to win the race tonight. Dirado posted a final time of 2:11.09, the 10th fastest in the world this year, just off her own seventh best 2:10.77.<\/p>\n

Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind in 2:11.35.\u00a0Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the podium performances in 2:12.22.<\/p>\n

Madisyn Cox\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 2:12.35 while Hosszu fell to fifth in 2:12.37.<\/p>\n

Caitlin Leverenz\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.70),\u00a0Kirsty Coventry\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.76), and\u00a0Sarah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>(2:15.45) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n

Patricia Castro Ortega\u00a0<\/strong>won the B final in a 2:14.79.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n

Michael Phelps\u00a0<\/strong>was first to the butterfly wall, further ahead after backstroke, and held on for the win.\u00a0Phelps\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 1:57.90, the third fastest time in the world this year.\u00a0Training partners\u00a0Chase Kalisz\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0David Nolan\u00a0<\/strong>finished second and third in 1:59.05 and 2:00.89. Kalisz’s time is the tenth fastest in the world this year.<\/p>\n

Max Williamson\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 2:02.61.\u00a0Andrew Seliskar\u00a0<\/strong>touched fifth in 2:02.86.<\/p>\n

Gunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.01),\u00a0Marko Blazevski\u00a0<\/strong>(2:05.16), and\u00a0Sean Grieshop\u00a0<\/strong>(2:07.23) completed the A final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>,\u00a0Maya Dirado<\/strong>, and\u00a0Kirsty Coventry\u00a0<\/strong>were all fresh out of the 200 IM when they hopped back in for tonight’s 200 backstroke. That didn’t seem to phase Dirado who raced her way to the world’s tenth fastest time this year with a 2:08.61,\u00a0winning the event by well over a second. Dirado already holds the world’s seventh best time from the Austin stop of the Pro Series. That was Dirado’s second win in two consecutive events.<\/p>\n

Kirsty Coventry\u00a0<\/strong>held on for second place in 2:10.04.\u00a0Kaitlin Harty\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind her in 2:10.23.<\/p>\n

Matea Samardzic\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth with a 2:13.46 while Hosszu ended up fifth in 2:13.91.<\/p>\n

Melanie Klaren\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.24),\u00a0Erin Earley\u00a0<\/strong>(2:15.98), and\u00a0Ally Howe\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.57) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ryan Lochte\u00a0<\/strong>scratched the 200 IM to focus on the 200 backstroke and he won the event tonight. Lochte stopped the clock in 2:01.04, not far ahead of\u00a0Omar Pinzon\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:01.65.\u00a0Connor Green\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 2:02.03.<\/p>\n

Bryce Mefford\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.20),\u00a0Johannes Calloni\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.73),\u00a0Nolan Tesone\u00a0<\/strong>(2:04.10),\u00a0Preston Jenkins\u00a0<\/strong>(2:05.45), and\u00a0Drew Cosgarea\u00a0<\/strong>(2:05.61) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>may have been second to the 50 meter wall but she was first when it counted. Manuel stopped the clock at 53.80 to win the 100 tonight. That is the 11th fastest time in the world this year.\u00a0Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 54.22\u00a0Dana Vollmer\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a time of 54.54.<\/p>\n

Amanda Weir\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Lia Neal\u00a0<\/strong>tied for fourth in 54.70.<\/p>\n

Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>(54.89),\u00a0Kelsi Worrell\u00a0<\/strong>(55.45), and\u00a0Margo Geer\u00a0<\/strong>(55.50) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n

Allison Schmitt\u00a0<\/strong>won the B final in 54.88. Last night’s 50 champion<\/a>\u00a0Madison Kennedy\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 55.21 for second in that race.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nathan Adrian\u00a0<\/strong>absolutely dominated the A final of the 100 freestyle tonight. Adrian turned in a 48.00 to tie the fourth fastest time in the world this year, matching Florent Manaudou<\/strong>‘s effort.<\/p>\n

Only three other swimmers tonight even cleared 50 seconds.\u00a0Christian Quintero\u00a0<\/strong>(49.45),\u00a0Jimmy Feigen\u00a0<\/strong>(49.80), and\u00a0Conor Dwyer\u00a0<\/strong>(49.89) finished second through fourth.<\/p>\n

Matias Koski\u00a0<\/strong>(50.04),\u00a0Michael Chadwick\u00a0<\/strong>(50.12),\u00a0Daniel Ramirez\u00a0<\/strong>(50.43), and\u00a0Ryan Lochte\u00a0<\/strong>(50.69) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n

Men’s 1500 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan Wilimovsky\u00a0<\/strong>jumped out to an early lead and held on for a huge swim tonight. Wilimovsky posted a 14:53.12, a new lifetime best time and the world’s fifth fastest time this year.<\/p>\n

Michael McBroom\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 15:11.62 and\u00a0Ous Mellouli\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 15:16.82.\u00a0Clark Smith\u00a0<\/strong>swam to a fourth place showing with a 15:19.08.<\/p>\n

Marcelo Acosta\u00a0<\/strong>(15:27.39),\u00a0Taylor Abbott\u00a0<\/strong>(15:28.60),\u00a0Christopher Yeager\u00a0<\/strong>(15:34.80), and\u00a0Chris Wieser\u00a0<\/strong>(15:38.16) completed the top eight finishers.<\/p>\n
