OMAHA, Nebraska, November 15. KANSAS (5-2) swimming and diving rolled past Nebraska Omaha (3-4) Saturday afternoon, 171-80. KU did not lose a single event on the day, however, the Jayhawks exhibitioned all of its scores and times in the final three events. The road victory gives the University of Kansas a three-dual win streak and momentum heading into the Kenyon Invitational.<\/p>\n
Kansas opened the dual with a sweep in the 200 yard medley relay. KU's \u2018A' team, consisting of Iuliia Kuzhil, Danielle Herrmann, Ashley Leidigh and Maria Mayrovich won the race in a time of 1:46.11.<\/p>\n
Kansas then claimed the top two spots in the 200 yard freestyle and the 50 yard backstroke. Anne Liggett's time of 1:54.94 in the 200 yard freestyle and Kuzhil's time of 27.21 in the 50 yard backstroke were the winning times in their respective events. Kuzhil also won the 100 yard backstroke in 58.24.<\/p>\n
Herrmann, led a trio of Jayhawk swimmers in the 50 yard breaststroke that finished first, second and third. Herrmann's time of 29.99 bested Joy Bunting's time of 30.58 by 0.6 seconds. Herrmann also won the 100 yard breaststroke, which saw the top five spots go to Kansas Jayhawks.<\/p>\n
KU also swept the 100 yard butterfly. Brittany Potter led the Jayhawks with a time of 58.60. Mayrovich continued her strong swimming as she claimed the 50 yard freestyle crown in a time of 23.73.<\/p>\n
On the diving board, Erin Mertz won the 3 meter competition with 310.85 points. Hannah McMacken and Megan Proehl placed second and third, with 282.15 and 265.75 points, respectively.<\/p>\n
Kansas would also go on to win the 100 yard freestyle and the 50 yard butterfly. Amanda Maez won the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 53.82 and freshman Abigail Anderson won the 50 yard butterfly in a time of 26.97.<\/p>\n
KU will be back in action at the Kenyon Invitational in Gambier, Ohio from December 4-6. Following the Kenyon Invite, KU will break for winter. Kansas' next home meet will be Jan. 24 against South Dakota and Northern Iowa in a triangular dual.<\/p>\n
