THE final round of the Moscow stage of the FINA World Cup circuit went out with a bang as South Africa&#39;s Cameron van der Burgh set his second world record in as many days. Meanwhile, Valentina Artemyeva turned in a World Cup standard as well.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 1500 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nOlympic gold medalist Ous Mellouli of Tunisia won his third title of the meet with a time of 14:34.31 to win the distance free event going away.  Russia&#39;s Vitaly Romanovich picked up second-place prize money with a time of 14:40.46, while Russia&#39;s Ivan Afanevich took third in 15:13.69.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Josefin Lillhage captured the title in 53.47 for her second victory of the meet, while Australia&#39;s Marieke Guehrer finished second in 54.00.  Russia&#39;s Anastasia Aksenova wound up taking third in 54.26.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nSouth Africa&#39;s Darian Townsend earned his second victory of the meet with a time of 1:43.44, while Russia&#39;s Danila Izotov placed second in 1:44.35.  Russia&#39;s Alexander Sukhorukov completed the podium with a time of 1:44.49.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Valentina Artemyeva took a run at Jessica Hardy&#39;s world record of 29.58, but ended up settling for the World Cup record with a time of 29.86.  That performance wiped out the 30.03 set by Leisel Jones during the 2007 Sydney stop.  The readout also beat the Russian record of 30.16 set by Yuliya Efimova at the 2008 World Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#39;s Sarah Katsoulis touched second in 30.57, while South Africa&#39;s Suzaan van Biljon took third in 31.71.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nThe second world record in as many days fell by the wayside as South Africa&#39;s Cameron van der Burgh wiped out Ed Moses&#39; global standard with a time of 56.88.  The performance cleared Moses&#39; 57.47 set during the 2002 Stockholm stop of the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#39;s Igor Borysik finished second in 57.94, while Australia&#39;s Christian Sprenger placed third in 58.05.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 IM<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Svetlana Karpeeva grabbed the title with a time of 4:41.26.  Russia&#39;s Yana Martynova turned in a second-place time of 4:42.07, while Russia&#39;s Anna Markova finished third in 4:42.80.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Matt Jaukovic earned the win with a time of 50.68, while Russia&#39;s Evgeny Korotyshkin finished second in 50.72.  Japan&#39;s Kohei Kawamoto placed third in 51.19.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Anastasia Zueva topped the 100 back with a time of 58.81, while Brazil&#39;s Fabiola Molina took second in 59.11.  Russia&#39;s Kseniya Moskvina completed the podium with a time of 59.85.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Robert Hurley took a run at his world record of 23.24, but finished with the title in 23.54.  Russia&#39;s Stanislav Donets touched second in 23.62, while Australia&#39;s Ashley Delaney grabbed third in 23.89.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Amy Smith clinched the title with a time of 2:06.64, while South Africa&#39;s Mandy Loots finished second in 2:08.80.  Russia&#39;s Veronika Popova wound up third in 2:11.57.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 IM<\/b><br \/>\nTunisia&#39;s Ous Mellouli grabbed another victory, this time with a 1:55.10 in the 200 IM.  South Africa&#39;s Darian Townsend picked up second with a time of 1:55.42, while Lithuania&#39;s Vytautas Janusaitis placed third in 1:57.40.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Elena Sokolova garnered the win in the middle distance event with a time of 4:03.99.  New Zealand&#39;s Melissa Ingram pocketed second with a time of 4:05.11, while Russia&#39;s Kira Volodina took third in 4:07.53.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nSouth Africa&#39;s Lyndon Ferns touched out Sweden&#39;s Stefan Nystrand, 21.59 to 21.64, in the splash-and-dash.  Russia&#39;s Sergey Fesikov rounded out the top three in 21.83.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Olga Detenyuk took first in 2:21.70, while compatriot Valentina Artemyeva placed second in 2:22.54.  Vitalina Simonova turned in a third-place time of 2:24.48.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 IM<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Olga Klyuchnikova won the sprint medley in 1:01.37, while compatriots Svetlana Karpeeva (1:02.04) and Alexandra Musienko (1:02.05) completed the podium.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nJapan&#39;s Ryosuke Irie touched out Australia&#39;s Robert Hurley, 1:52.61 to 1:52.94, while Australia&#39;s Ashley Delaney snagged third-place money with a time of 1:53.02.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Therese Alshammar downed Australia&#39;s Marieke Guehrer, 25.53 to 25.58, in the sprint fly.
