Events:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Men’s 800 Free Finals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Luke Erwee <\/strong>topped the leaderboard in the men’s 800-meter free, stopping the clock at 8:29.44.\u00a0Roberto Gomes<\/strong> finished second overall with a time of 8:31.01, while\u00a0Reuben Schoeman<\/strong> grabbed third with a time of 8:34.52.<\/p>\n Women’s 1500 Free Finals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Tasmin Tennant\u00a0<\/strong>outlasted the competition in the women’s 1500-meter free touching first with a time of 17:21.32. Tennant succeeded in dropping 12.92 seconds off her entry time of 17:34.24. Finishing second overall was\u00a0Charlise Oberholzer<\/strong> with a time of 17:25.21, just ahead of\u00a0Robyn Kinghorn<\/strong> and her time of 17:30.47.<\/p>\n Women’s 200 Free Semi’s:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Karin Prinsloo<\/strong> maintained her spot at the top of the leaderboard in semis of the 200-meter free. Prinsloo dropped .87 seconds to inch closer to a sub-2-minute 200 by stopping the clock at 2:00.96.<\/p>\n Also dropping time in the evening session was\u00a0Kristin Bellingan<\/strong> who cut 2.20 seconds from her prelims time of 2:07.18 to finish semis with a 2:04.98. Moving up to third in the event was\u00a0Caitlin Kat<\/strong> with a final time of 2:05.59.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 Free Finals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n After leading prelims of the men’s 200-meter fly this morning,\u00a0Chad Le Clos<\/strong> turned up the heat in the men’s 200-meter free touching first in a time of 1:47.75. Le Clos’s time sits just outside of the top 20 world rankings for 2016.<\/p>\n Myles Brown<\/strong> and\u00a0Marwan Elcamash\u00a0<\/strong>kept a close race, battling right to the finish for second in the 200. Brown edged Elcamash by .05 seconds to finish with a 1:48.29 and the silver medal. Elcamash settled for bronze and a time of 1:48.34.<\/p>\n LE Clos’ Splits: 24.73, 27.84, 28.26, 26.92–1:47.75<\/p>\n Brown’s Splits: 25.14, 27.45, 28.29, 27.41–1:48.29<\/p>\n Elcamash’s Splits: 25.37, 27.24, 28.20, 27.53–1:48.34<\/p>\n Men’s 100 Back S15 & S15 Multi-Class<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n After posting the top time in prelims at a 1:12.30,\u00a0Craig Groenewald<\/strong> (S14) returned in finals to light up the pool. Groenwald scratched 2.80 seconds off his prelims time to finish first with a time of 1:09.50.<\/p>\n Aaron Putz<\/strong> (S14) and\u00a0Challis Wright<\/strong> (S14) exchanged spots in finals to end up as second and third respectively. Putz mproved upon his third place seed and prelims time of 1:13.52 to finish second with a time of 1:11.39. Wright slipped to third with a 1:11.66, an improvement upon his prelims time of 1:12.92.<\/p>\n Men’s 100 Back S1 & S13 Multi-Class:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n This morning’s top three qualifiers in the men’s 100 back S1 & S13 Multi-Class division each maintained their respective spots throughout finals.\u00a0Hendri Herbst\u00a0<\/strong>(S11) finished first in finals with a time of 1:16.84, adding slightly to his prelims time of 1:16.67.<\/p>\n Second went to\u00a0Achmat Hassiem<\/strong> (S10) who stopped the clock with a 1:11.44, while\u00a0Jean Pretorious<\/strong> (S10) rounded out the top three with a 1:13.57.<\/p>\n Women’s 100 Back S14 & S15 Multi-Class:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Christelle Kriel<\/strong>\u00a0(S14)notched the top spot in the women’s 100-meter back S14 & S15 Multi-Class division with a final time of 1:16.40. Kriel cut .54 seconds off her prelims time of 1:16.94.<\/p>\n Finishing second overall was\u00a0Michaela Kretzen<\/strong>\u00a0(S14) with a time of 1:26.18, while third went to\u00a0Maritz Snyders\u00a0<\/strong>(S14, 1:31.36).<\/p>\n Women’s 100 Back S1 & S13 Multi-Class:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Shireen Sapiro<\/strong> (S10) cruised to first in the women’s 100-meter back S1 & S13 Multi-Class division with a time of 1:11.87. Second went to\u00a0Emily Gray<\/strong> (S9) and her time of 1:17.17, while\u00a0Alani Ferreira<\/strong> grabbed third with a 1:24.81.<\/p>\n Women’s 100 Back Finals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Mariella Venter\u00a0<\/strong>posted the top time in finals of the women’s 100-meter back, stopping the clock at a time of 1:01.32. Venter’s time puts her just outside of the top 20 world rankings for 2016.<\/p>\n Finishing second was\u00a0Nathania Van Niekerk<\/strong> with a final time of 1:02.41, while\u00a0Carissa Van Rooyen\u00a0<\/strong>delivered a time of 1:04.70, good for third.<\/p>\n Men’s 100-Meter Back:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Christopher Reid\u00a0<\/strong>delivered the top time in the men’s 100-meter back during finals. Reid’s time moves him into the lower echelons of the top 20 world rankings for 2016.<\/p>\n Posting second was\u00a0Zane Waddell\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 56.09, shaving .10 seconds off his seed time of 56.19.\u00a0Jacques Van Wyk<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 56.25.<\/p>\n Women’s 100 Breast Finals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Tatjana Schoenmaker<\/strong> and\u00a0Kaylene Corbett<\/strong> kept a close race in finals of the women’s 100-meter breaststroke. Schoenmaker ended the race just ahead of Corbett with a 1:09.17 compared to Corbett’s 1:09.66.<\/p>\n Wrapping up the top three was\u00a0Hanim Abrahams<\/strong> and her time of 1:11.23.<\/p>\n Men’s 200 Fly Semi-Finals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n After clocking a 2:00.22 in prelims of the 200-meter fly,\u00a0Chad Le Clos<\/strong> delivered a blistering 1:55.61 to maintain his spot atop the leaderboard at the South African National Championships. Le Clos’ time moves him from ninth in the world rankings up to fourth, bettering upon his previous 2016 best of 1:56.27.<\/p>\n Sebastien Rousseau<\/strong> clung to second, stopping the clock at a 1:57.60 . Rousseau succeeded in shaving 3.02 seconds off his prelims time of 2:00.62 to be the only other swimmer under the 2-minute mark.<\/p>\n Rounding out the top three was\u00a0Eben Vorster\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 2:00.03, flirting with a sub-2-minute 200.<\/p>\n Women’s 200 IM Semi-Finals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Marlies Ross<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed on to the lead in the women’s 200-meter IM and never looked back during semi-finals. Ross dashed ahead of the competition to finish with a 2:16.17, more than three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.<\/p>\n Finishing second was\u00a0Kirsty Mc Lauchlan<\/strong> with a time of 2:19.29, improving upon her prelims time of 2:22.16 by 3.32 seconds.<\/p>\n Gabi Grobler<\/strong> and\u00a0Rebecca Meder<\/strong> battled for third with the two posting times .15 seconds apart.
