SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, November 7. PERFORMING in the international spotlight, the Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams rose to the occasion, taking dual meets against Transylvania and Wabash. The men moved to 4-0 on the dual meet campaign with a 125-110 win over the Little Giants, while dispatching the Pioneers 165-71. On the women's side, Natalie Koukis' squad controlled the meet from the start, and finished with a 128-106 margin over Transylvania.<\/p>\n
In a meet that was webcast live in front of an international audience on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com<\/b>, the Tiger women seized the early momentum with a win the in the 400-yard medley relay as Adeline Brym, Megan Tassone, Keaton Hannon and Cecilia Wille touched in 4:11.54. <\/p>\n
From there, the night took off for the Tiger women, as they collected seven wins in the nine individual swimming events, while sophomore Megan Shubitowski took a first and second in the diving events.<\/p>\n
Wittenberg also received a number of double winners on the night, highlighted by Adeline Brym and her 200 IM (2:13.27) and 200 backstroke (2:18.02) victories. Rachel Lee controlled the distance events, taking the 500 (5:29.43) and 1000 (11:21.88) freestyle with individual victories.<\/p>\n
Megan Hagan also claimed the 200 fly in 2:19.61 for Transylvania, while teammate Kaitlyn Reighley captured an exhibition win in the 200 breast (2:40.02).<\/p>\n
On the men's side, Neil Anderson took the 200 (1:48.14), 500 (4:54.52) freestyle and 200 fly (2:01.21) for three triumphs. Meanwhile, Matt Erepreiss swept the diving events for the men. Chris Culkin also had a strong meet, winning the 1000 freestyle (10:13.97) and taking second to Anderson in the 500 (5:01.06).<\/p>\n
Other wins went to Transylvania's Hal Graft in the 200 IM (1:57.44), while Jordon Blackwell won the 100 free in 48.74 for Wabash. Graft went on to double with a victory in the 200 back (1:54.79) as well. Wabash's Paul Buescher walked away with the title in the 200 breast (2:20.85), while the squad of Blackwell, Blaine Cooper-Surma, Robert Fozkos and Craig Vetor took the 400 free relay in 3:18.28.<\/p>\n
The victory over Wabash marked the first time in school history that the Tigers had topped the Little Giants in a dual meet, dating back to their first encounter in the 2002-03 season.<\/p>\n
