{"id":194391,"date":"2016-04-09T13:26:37","date_gmt":"2016-04-09T20:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=194391"},"modified":"2016-04-09T13:26:37","modified_gmt":"2016-04-09T20:26:37","slug":"ranomi-kromowidjojo-leaps-to-3rd-in-world-in-100-free-with-53-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ranomi-kromowidjojo-leaps-to-3rd-in-world-in-100-free-with-53-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Ranomi Kromowidjojo Leaps To 3rd in World in 100 Free With 53.21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> uncorked a third-ranked 53.21 to lead the women&#8217;s 100-meter free semis at the 2016 Eindhoven Swim Cup.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 50 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hendrik Feldwehr<\/strong> raced his\u00a0way to a 28.10 to win the sprint breaststroke event. \u00a0<strong>Timon Evenhuis<\/strong> claimed second overall in a time of 28.20 with <strong>George Bovell<\/strong> earning third overall in 28.29.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 800 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Serena Stel<\/strong> turned in a top time of 9:07.09 to win the 800 free. <strong>\u00a0Laura Setz<\/strong> picked up second-place honors in a time of 9:10.04 with <strong>Jill Benne<\/strong> claiming third in 9:13.59.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Joeri Verlinden<\/strong> turned up the heat in the finale with a time of 52.06. \u00a0That&#8217;s off his fifth-ranked season best of 51.79 from earlier in the meet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laurent Barns<\/strong> checked in with a second-place time of 53.90 with <strong>Geoffrey Cheah<\/strong> earning third in 53.95. \u00a0<strong>Nyls Korstanje<\/strong> set the Dutch age group record for 17 year olds with a fourth-place 54.55.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Julia Mrozinski<\/strong> captured the 200 fly title with a time of 2:11.59. \u00a0<strong>Lisa Hopink<\/strong> earned second in 2:13.15 with <strong>Anja Crevar<\/strong> snaring third in 2:14.12.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEMIFINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Guy Barnea<\/strong> posted the top time of the 100 back semis with a time of 55.05. \u00a0<strong>Christian Diener<\/strong> checked in with a second-seeded time of 55.43, while <strong>Carl-Louis Schwartz<\/strong> also cleared 56 with a third-seeded time of 55.64.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Felix Wolf<\/strong> qualified fourth in 57.07 with <strong>Jelle Betten<\/strong> breaking the Dutch junior national record with a 57.78.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rikke Moller Pedersen<\/strong> cruised to the top seed in a time of 1:07.26. \u00a0That put Pedersen up to 15th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yvette Man-Yi Kong<\/strong> grabbed the second seed in a time of 1:08.64 with <strong>Anouk Elzerman<\/strong> earning third overall in 1:09.63.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Maarten Brzoskowski<\/strong> earned the top spot into finals with a time of 1:47.36. \u00a0<strong>Sebastiaan Verschuren<\/strong> qualified second with a time of 1:47.55 to set up a strong head-to-head in finals. \u00a0<strong>Glenn Surgeloose<\/strong> finished third in 1:48.96 with <strong>Velimir Stjepanovic<\/strong> grabbing fourth in 1:48.97.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> unleashed a 53.21 in semis to move to third in the world rankings, behind only <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> (52.78) and <strong>Cate Campbell<\/strong> (52.85).
