IF not for Brazil&#39;s Thiago Pereira earning a couple of close victories over Tunisia&#39;s Ous Mellouli, the Singapore stop of the FINA World Cup would have been all about the Tunisian.<\/p>\n<p>Mellouli finished the day with a pair of titles, pushing his tally to four for the meet, which easily could have been six if not for Pereira&#39;s triumphs in IM events.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 1500 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nOlympic gold medalist Ous Mellouli of Tunisia claimed his third title of the meet thus far with a time of 15:06.05.  He needed a final surge to overcome New Zealand&#39;s Matt Woodrow, who finished with a time of 15:07.81 and led at different points of the swim.  New Zealand&#39;s Kane Radford wound up taking third in 15:23.99.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Sarah Sjostrom picked up the victory in 53.94, while Australia&#39;s Kelly Stubbins (54.11) and Kara Lynn Joyce of the U.S. (54.29) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nOus Mellouli pulled off his favorite double of the circuit, as he once again claimed the 1500 and 200 free back-to-back triumph with a time of 1:44.47.  That gave him a fourth win in Singapore.  Australia&#39;s Nicholas Ffrost finished second in 1:45.53, while Brazil&#39;s Rodrigo Castro took third in 1:45.64.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nTara Kirk of the U.S. captured the sprint breast crown with a time of 30.78.  Australia&#39;s Sarah Katsoulis finished quickly behind with a time of 30.97 for second, while Sweden&#39;s Joline Hostman took third in 31.22.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nSouth Africa&#39;s Cameron van der Burgh won his second title of the meet with a time of 58.19, while Australia&#39;s Christian Sprenger joined him in the 58s with a second-place 58.54.  Brazil&#39;s Eduardo Fischer placed third in 59.01.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 IM<\/b><br \/>\nSouth Africa&#39;s Kathryn Meaklim claimed her second title in Singapore with a triumphant time of 4:32.21, while Russia&#39;s Svetlana Karpeeva took second in 4:40.85.  New Zealand&#39;s Natalie Wiegersma finished third in 4:43.44.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nEvgeny Korotyshkin got into the win column in the 100 fly with a top time of 50.84.  Australia&#39;s Matt Jaukovic settled for second with a time of 51.46, while compatriot Chris Wright touched third in 51.78.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Sophie Edington won her second crown of the meet with a time of 59.02, while Russia&#39;s Anastasia Zueva placed second in 59.14.  Brazil&#39;s Fabiola Molina wound up third in 59.33.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nRandall Bal of the U.S., the 2007 World Cup champion, grabbed a victory in the sprint back with a time of 23.35 \u2013 just off his American record of 23.33.  Australia&#39;s Robert Hurley, the newly-crowned world-record holder, took second in 23.53, while Peter Marshall of the U.S. finished third in 23.56.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Amy Smith walked away with the title in the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.39, while South Africa&#39;s Kathryn Meaklim (2:09.69) and New Zealand&#39;s Charlotte Webby (2:13.30) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 IM<\/b><br \/>\nBrazil&#39;s Thiago Pereira edged Ous Mellouli of Tunisia in the 200 IM, 1:53.76 to 1:53.78, in an exciting finish.  Australia&#39;s Chris Wright earned third with a time of 1:59.10.  The win was Pereira&#39;s second of the meet.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nNew Zealand&#39;s Melissa Ingram cruised in the middle distance affair with a time of 4:04.55, easily out-distancing Australia&#39;s Bronte Barratt (4:07.68).  South Africa&#39;s Melissa Corfe placed third in 4:10.43.  The win gave Ingram her second first-place cash prize of the meet.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Stefan Nystrand captured his second win of the meet with a time of 21.39 in the men&#39;s splash-and-dash.  Australia&#39;s Tom Miller (22.00) and Mitchell Patterson (22.06) completed the top three.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Joline Hostman claimed the title with a time of 2:23.21, while South Africa&#39;s Kathryn Meaklim took second in 2:24.05.  Australia&#39;s Sarah Katsoulis finished third in 2:24.37.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 IM<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Svetlana Karpeeva emerged with the win in 1:01.61, while Brazil&#39;s Fabiola Molina took second in 1:02.11.  Australia&#39;s Sophie Edington placed third in 1:02.36.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Ashley Delaney topped the 200 back with a time of 1:52.31, while Randall Bal of the U.S. touched second in 1:52.80.  Australia&#39;s Robert Hurley rounded out the top three in 1:56.56.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Marieke Guehrer completed the Singapore stop with a victory in the sprint fly in 25.56.
