PRELIMINARY swimming of the second day of action at the Singapore stop of the FINA World Cup circuit came to a close.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Anastasia Aksenova led qualifying with a time of 55.14, while Australia&#39;s Kelly Stubbins (55.23), Kara Lynn Joyce of the U.S. (55.32) and Australia&#39;s Sally Foster (55.34) made up the top four.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#39;s Sarah Sjostrom (55.78), Australia&#39;s Alice Mills (55.80), Germany&#39;s Lena-Celina Hiller (55.93) and Sweden&#39;s Claire Hedenskog (56.02) comprised the rest of the championship eight.<\/p>\n<p>Marieke Guehrer looked to be off her game in the event finishing with a 1:09.62 for last place.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nTunisia&#39;s Ous Mellouli topped qualifying with a time of 1:49.42, while Germany&#39;s Felix Wolf finished second in 1:49.55.  Brazil&#39;s Rodrigo Castro (1:49.63) and Thiago Pereira (1:49.94) took third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#39;s Nicholas Ffrost (1:50.30), New Zealand&#39;s Matt Woodrow (1:50.34), Brett Newall (1:50.69) and Steven Kent (1:50.72) captured the final transfer spots.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nTara Kirk of the U.S. took the top seed with a time of 31.56, while Australia&#39;s Sally Foster (32.14) and Sarah Katsoulis (32.29) finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#39;s Joline Hostman (32.32), Australia&#39;s Kristy Morrison (32.33), Singapore&#39;s Xin Jing Cheryl Lim (35.15), Sze Hui Sabrina Heng (35.47) and Dan Dan Lee (35.61) touched fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nBrazil&#39;s Henrique Barbosa touched first in 1:00.85, while South Africa&#39;s Cameron van der Burgh finished second in 1:00.94.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#39;s Sergey Geybel (1:01.16), Germany&#39;s Marco Koch (1:01.43) and Brazil&#39;s Eduardo Fischer (1:01.64) placed third through fifth, while South Africa&#39;s William Diering (1:01.79), Singapore&#39;s Mark Tan (1:01.92) and Australia&#39;s Christian Sprenger (1:02.50) wrapped up the top eight.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Matt Jaukovic led qualifying with a time of 51.90, while South Africa&#39;s Garth Tune (52.43), Australia&#39;s Mitchell Patterson (53.25) and Russia&#39;s Evgeny Korotyshkin (53.31) finished in the top four.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#39;s Chris Wright (55.29), New Zealand&#39;s Steven Kent (55.53) and Daniel Bell (55.80) as well as Singapore&#39;s Nicholas Sim (57.61) earned the rest of the final spots.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Anastasia Zueva edged Brazil&#39;s Fabiola Molina, 1:02.53 to 1:02.89, for the top seed, while Australia&#39;s Sophie Edington (1:03.21) and New Zealand&#39;s Melissa Ingram (1:03.90) placed third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore took the rest of the spots with Jia Yi Shana Lim (1:04.65), Edith Ong (1:06.46), Deborah Chua (1:06.94) and Adeline Winata (1:07.89) finishing fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Ashley Delaney qualified first in the sprint back with a time of 24.44, while Japan&#39;s Junya Koga (24.59), South Africa&#39;s Garth Tune (24.77) and Australia&#39;s Robert Hurley (24.88) placed second through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Randall Bal of the U.S. (24.89), Peter Marshall of the U.S. (24.97), Singapore&#39;s Rainer Ng (26.67) and Singapore&#39;s Li Jie Richard Chng (27.90) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 IM<\/b><br \/>\nNew Zealand&#39;s John Gatfield cruised in the preliminary round with a time of 2:00.60, while Germany&#39;s Marco Koch touched second in 2:04.09.  Brazil&#39;s Thiago Pereira (2:05.40) and Tunisia&#39;s Ous Mellouli (2:05.94) took third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#39;s Sam Ashby (2:05.95) and Chris Wright (2:08.18), New Zealand&#39;s Brett Newall (2:09.19) and Singapore&#39;s Wei Ming Nicholas Ho (2:13.27) captured the other finale spots.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Bronte Barratt touched first in 4:18.14, while New Zealand&#39;s Joyce Wiegersma finished second in 4:18.36.  <\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#39;s Melissa Corfe (4:20.41), Singapore&#39;s Hui Yu Koh (4:24.78) and New Zealand&#39;s Melissa Ingram (4:24.92) placed third through fifth, while New Zealand&#39;s Natasha Simpson (4:26.49), Singapore&#39;s Xiang Qi Amanda Lim (4:28.91) and New Zealand&#39;s Charlotte Webby (4:30.52) made up the rest of the championship eight.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Stefan Nystrand posted the top time with a 21.77, while Australia&#39;s Mitchell Patterson (22.18) and Tom Miller (22.47) finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#39;s Junya Koga (22.64), New Zealand&#39;s Mark Herring (22.67), Brazil&#39;s Rodrigo Castro (23.10), Singapore&#39;s Li Jie Richard Chng (23.19) and New Zealand&#39;s Steven Kent (23.41) took the rest of the finals spots.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Sarah Katsoulis cruised in the longer breaststroke with a time of 2:33.15, while New Zealand&#39;s Natalie Wiegersma (2:35.56) and Sweden&#39;s Joline Hostman (2:35.64) took second and third.  <\/p>\n<p>Tara Kirk of the U.S. finished fourth in 2:35.75, while South Africa&#39;s Kathryn Meaklim (2:36.92), Sweden&#39;s Stina Gardell (2:40.03), Singapore&#39;s Xin Jing Cheryl Lim (2:43.72) and Sze Hui Sabrina Heng (2:43.83) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 IM<\/b><br \/>\nRussia&#39;s Svetlana Karpeeva paced prelims of the sprint medley with a time of 1:02.04, while Kara Lynn Joyce of the U.S. took second in 1:03.85.  Slovakia&#39;s Martina Moravcova (1:04.50) and Australia&#39;s Kristy Morrison (1:04.55) finished third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#39;s Fabiola Molina (1:05.22), Australia&#39;s Sophie Edington (1:06.41), Singapore&#39;s Ting Wen Quah (1:06.87) and Tara Kirk of the U.S. (1:07.48) completed the championship finale.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Ashley Delaney qualified first with a time of 1:59.08, while compatriot Robert Hurley finished second in 2:03.95.  <\/p>\n<p>Germany&#39;s Felix Wolf (2:05.45), Randall Bal of the U.S. (2:07.89), New Zealand&#39;s Dylan Dunlop-Barrett (2:07.93), Germany&#39;s Yannick Lebherz (2:08.32), Singapore&#39;s Rainer Ng (2:09.00) and Jia Chen Yeo (2:14.03) rounded out the rest of finals.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Therese Alshammar, and teammate Sarah Sjostrom, went 1-2 in the sprint fly with times of 26.68 and 26.88.
