PHOENIX, Arizona, October 31. THE College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) have released its latest set of dual meet rankings for Division I programs.<\/p>\n
In a very impressive early-season performance, Stanford's women traveled to Ann Arbor and defeated both host Michigan (218-82) and Florida (178-122) in a double dual meet. With the two victories, Stanford is now 4-0 in dual meet competition this year and has won 21 of its last 22 head-to-head battles.<\/p>\n
The Women of Troy powered USC to the overall title at SMU's Swimming and Diving Classic last week. USC (327) finished ahead of North Carolina (301), SMU (301) and Wisconsin (258) to go from 16th to No. 11. Texas leaped three spots to No. 4.
\nMichigan's men edged Florida, 182-115, as the two flipped spots in the top 10. Georgia held off North Carolina by a 152-148 margin and moved up one spot to ninth. Auburn dropped from sixth to ninth and Florida State jumped three spots to No. 20.<\/p>\n
This year's poll will be published eight times and the champion will be crowned on February 26, 2009. Pollsters representing eight conferences along with two at-large voters have the task of ranking the top dual meet teams in the nation throughout the season. Additionally, the group of pollsters is completely different for the men's and women's rankings. This poll should not be confused with the results of the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships that will take place in March.<\/p>\n
