Hagino stopped the clock at 1:47.16 to claim the top seed for finals, also making him the only other swimmer underneath the 1:48 mark.\u00a0<b>Yuuki Kobori\u00a0<\/b>grabbed second in prelims with a time of 1:48.17, while\u00a0<strong>Takeshi Matsuda<\/strong> turned in a 1:48.29 for third.<\/p>\n<p>The racing slowed down a bit in the women&#8217;s 200-meter free with only\u00a0<strong>Chihiro Igarashi\u00a0<\/strong>dipping below the 2-minute mark. Igarashi, yesterday&#8217;s winner in the 400-meter free, finished first with a time of 1:59.90 finishing three seconds short of Japan&#8217;s Olympic standard of 1:56.82.\u00a0<strong>Rikako Ikee<\/strong>, who won the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly in National Record fashion, posted a 2:00.65 for third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rie Kaneto<\/strong> dashed to the top spot in the in the 100-meter breaststroke, stopping the clock at 1:06.91. Kaneto&#8217;s time is a slim .33 seconds off her 2016 best of 1:06.58, good for fourth in the world rankings.\u00a0<strong>Reina Aoki\u00a0<\/strong>was second overall with a time of 1:07.62.\u00a0<strong>Kanako Watanabe<\/strong> delivered a final time of 1:07.79 to settle for the third-place seed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryosuke Irie\u00a0<\/strong>neared the Japanese Olympic standard in the men&#8217;s 100-meter back with a final time of 53.90. Irie will need to shave approximately four-tenths of a second off his time to reach the 53.49 standard.
