The Austin Speedo Sections Championships concluded this evening at the University of Texas hosted by Colorado Swimming. The women’s 800 free, 200 IM and 50 free were swam as well as the men’s 1500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. Arizona Gold won the meet for the men and Fort Collins Area Swim Team won the meet for the women.<\/p>\n

Unattached, Mckenzee Gordon<\/strong> took gold in the women’s 800 free with the time of 8:58.06. RallySport Aquatics’ Brittney Beetcher<\/strong> came in second place with a 9:02.38 and finishing in a close third with the time of 9:02.82 was Woodmore Waves’ Francesca Bains<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the time of 15:39.55, Arizona Gold’s Ben Olszewski<\/strong> qualified for Olympic trials and won the men’s 1500. Brooks Fail<\/strong> of Tuscon J Stingrays took the silver with a 15:50.24 and for third place Yoelvis Pedraza<\/strong> of RallySport Aquatics went a 15:55.70.<\/p>\n

In women’s 200 IM, Zoe Barte<\/strong>l won the event in the time of 2:17.54. This was her third gold of the meet as well as another Olympic trials time standard. Her teammate Bailey Kovac<\/strong> came in second place with a 2:20.15 and Kelly Huffer<\/strong> from Scottsdale Aquatics was a close third place with a 2:20.94.<\/p>\n

Daniel Carr<\/strong>, unattached won the men’s 200 IM with a 2:05.25. Arizona Gold came in second and third place in the event. Mark Jurek<\/strong> took silver with a 2:05.60 and Ty Dang<\/strong> took bronze with a 2:08.34.<\/p>\n

Scottsdale Aquatics’ Claire Grover<\/strong> won the women’s 50 free with a 26.61. Lindsay Painton<\/strong> of Denver Swim Academy clocked in at a 26.75 for the silver medal and in third place was Fort Collins’ Coleen Gillilan<\/strong> with a 26.83.<\/p>\n

In the men’s 50 free, Cesar Cielo<\/strong>\u00a0from Mesa Aquatics won the event. He took the gold in the time of 22.82, which is also an Olympic trials qualifying standard. Mckay King<\/strong> of Hilltop Aquatics Swim Team came in second place with the time of 23.49 and coming in with a 23.52 for a close bronze was Jacob Huerta<\/strong> from Costal Bend Aquatics.<\/p>\n
