A weekend of great racing at the Speedo Sectionals Ithaca wrapped up tonight.\u00a0Nation’s Capital\u00a0won the women’s meet as 757Swim finished runner up. Eastern Express was victorious on the men’s side well ahead of second place\u00a0Nation’s Capital.<\/p>\n

The women from 757Swim were first to the wall in the 200 freestyle relay.\u00a0Joelle Vereb<\/strong>,\u00a0Sofia Long<\/strong>,\u00a0Colby Hurt<\/strong>, and\u00a0Abigail Larson\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 1:35.66. Mount Lebanon’s\u00a0Hannah Bumgarner<\/strong>,\u00a0Alison Shapiro<\/strong>,\u00a0Trinity Ward<\/strong>, and\u00a0Angela Gyurina\u00a0<\/strong>were right behind in 1:35.79. Third place went to the Golden Rams’\u00a0Rachel Hazard<\/strong>,\u00a0Ann Carozza<\/strong>,\u00a0Maura McManus<\/strong>, and\u00a0Olivia Miller<\/strong> in 1:36.18<\/p>\n

The Laguardia Aquatic Club team of Timothy Ho<\/strong>,\u00a0Connor Mullin<\/strong>,\u00a0Evan Zhang<\/strong>, and\u00a0Delano Townsend\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the men’s 200 freestyle relay in 1:25.62. Eastern Express’\u00a0Collin Hanlon<\/strong>,\u00a0Jacob Lubinski<\/strong>,\u00a0Jack McIntyre<\/strong>, and\u00a0Connor Doyle\u00a0<\/strong>were second in 1:26.20. Third place went to the Jersey Flyers squad of\u00a0Jason Arthur<\/strong>,\u00a0Tristan Highet<\/strong>,\u00a0Jin Roh<\/strong>, and\u00a0Ronald Cullen<\/strong> in 1:26.23.<\/p>\n

Mary Folz<\/strong>, swimming unattached, won the women’s 1650 in 16:48.74.\u00a0Emily Ecker\u00a0<\/strong>followed up her winning 1000 Thursday night with a second place mile. The 13 year old from the Portland Porpoises touched in 16:52.47. Phoenix Aquatic Club’s\u00a0Amanda Lauer\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 17:01.91.<\/p>\n

In the men’s 1000, McIntyre won by nearly eight seconds, finishing in 9:22.73. Swim Ithaca’s\u00a0Kevin Miller\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 9:30.40 while\u00a0Ryan Schonbachler\u00a0<\/strong>of Pine Richland Aquatics was third in 9:33.88.<\/p>\n

The Atlantic Club’s\u00a0Grace Kayal\u00a0<\/strong>won a close 200 backstroke, touching in 2:01.02, ahead of\u00a0Schenectady’s\u00a0Yunfan Dong\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:01.26 and Nutmeg’s\u00a0Caitlin McNary\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:01.91.<\/p>\n

Arthur claimed the men’s 200 backstroke with a 1:45.64. Blue Wave’s\u00a0Stephen Clendenin\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 1:47.14 and Executive Swim Club’s\u00a0Grant Levasseur\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 1:49.07. Arthur and Clendenin finished 1-2 in the 200 IM in 1:48.47 and 1:50.25. Doyle touched third in 1:51.55.<\/p>\n

Fourteen year old\u00a0Katherine Douglass\u00a0<\/strong>was back again, tonight winning the 100 freestyle with a 50.37 for Westchester Aquatic Club.\u00a0Kira Page\u00a0<\/strong>of Regional Y of Connecticut was just behind in 50.92. 757’s Vereb placed third with a time of 51.30. Douglass also won the 200 IM posting a 2:02.81. Fellow 14 year old Hurt followed up her impressive 400 IM win with a second place 2:04.49. Laguardia’s 13 year old\u00a0Vanessa Chong\u00a0<\/strong>completed the young podium in 2:05.42.<\/p>\n

757Swim’s\u00a0Colin Wright\u00a0<\/strong>won his second sprint title of the weekend, touching first in the 100 freestyle in 45.61 seconds.\u00a0Matthew Dinunzio\u00a0<\/strong>of Jewish Community was second in 45.98. Third place went to\u00a0Auston Ramsay\u00a0<\/strong>of the South Shore YMCA in 46.01.<\/p>\n

The women’s 400 medley relay went to 757Swim’s Vereb, Hurt, Long, and Larson in a 3:50.60. Charlotte Fieeiki<\/strong>, Julia Moser<\/strong>, Sophie Reilly<\/strong>, and Erin Quinn<\/strong>\u00a0combined for a 3:52.23 for Nation’s Capital. Weston Swimming earned third place points in 3:52.32 with the team of Claire Kerns<\/strong>, Sophie Angus<\/strong>, Allison Pocsik<\/strong>, and Charlotte Proceller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side Eastern Express topped the podium in 3:24.38 with splits from Doyle, Jack Donnelly<\/strong>, Lubinski, and McIntyre. Matchpoint finished second as Oleksandr Bezuglyy<\/strong>, Ariel Okhtenberg<\/strong>, Elan Oumarov<\/strong>, and Veniamin Konovalov<\/strong>\u00a0raced to a 3:26.54. Third place was Laguardia Aquatic Club’s Timothy Ho<\/strong>, Evan Zhang<\/strong>, Connor Mullin<\/strong>, and Delano Townsend\u00a0<\/strong>in 3:28.50.<\/p>\n
