THE Navy women&#39;s swimming team (5-0) registered victories in 11 of 13 events and boasted five multi-event winners in a 136-105 victory over visiting UMBC (1-3) on Friday afternoon at Lejeune Hall. The Navy men were also victorious, winning by a final score of 169-126.<\/p>\n<p>The Navy trio of Thuy-Mi Dunh (Jr., Anaheim Calif., Allison Ranzau (So., Alpharetta, Ga.) and Tara Chapmon (Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.) each collected victories in two individual events, while also swimming on the Mids to a meet-closing victory in the 400 free relay. <\/p>\n<p>Dunh won both the 50 (25.92) and 100 free (57.61) events, Ranzau took the 200 back (2:21.76) and 200 free (2:04.38), while Chapmon won the 400 (4:21.84) and 800 free (8:56.82). <\/p>\n<p>Desiree Robison (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) and Mallory Dietrich (Jr. Pittsburgh, Pa.) also were double-event winners for Navy. Robison swept the diving boards, while Dietrich set the pace in both the 200 IM (2:23.42) and 200 breaststroke (2:37.14). <\/p>\n<p>&quot;Hats off to UMBC, they kept it very close throughout,&quot; said Navy women&#39;s swimming coach John Morrison. &quot;Our diving really pulled us through today by going 1-2-3 on both boards. I couldn&#39;t be more proud of how our team fought right down to the end. We swam very well in the later events to really push us past them.&quot; <\/p>\n<p>Navy now holds a 12-5 advantage in the all-time series against UMBC and has won nine of the 10 meets contested in Annapolis <\/p>\n<p>The Midshipmen women return to action Nov. 8 when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to compete against league foes American, Bucknell and Lafayette.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on the men&#39;s side, junior Adam Meyer (Bethesda, Md.) enjoyed a standout day, swimming to victories in three individual events to propel the Navy men&#39;s swimming team (5-0) to a 169-126 victory over visiting UMBC.<\/p>\n<p>Meyer swept the two butterfly events, claiming the 100 in 57.07 and the 200 in 2:02.76, won the 200 breast (2:21.96) and also swam the second leg on the Midshipmen&#39;s meet-opening 200 medley relay victory. <\/p>\n<p>Sophomores Erik Hunter (Placerville, Calif.) and Olaf Olson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) were also multi-event winners for Navy. Hunter touched first in both the 400 (4:00.09) and 800 freestyle (8:23.23), while Olson swept both diving boards. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;Overall, I was pleased with the performance of our team,&quot; said Navy head coach Bill Roberts. &quot;Adam deserves special mention for his efforts today. We are pleased with today&#39;s result, but there&#39;s still work to be done.&quot; <\/p>\n<p>The Mids, off to a perfect 5-0 start in the dual meet season, won 11 of the 16 events to top the reigning America East champion Retrievers for a fifth straight time.
