{"id":192987,"date":"2016-04-01T06:40:35","date_gmt":"2016-04-01T13:40:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=192987"},"modified":"2016-04-01T06:40:35","modified_gmt":"2016-04-01T13:40:35","slug":"bailey-coleman-captures-aussie-age-group-mark-in-400-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bailey-coleman-captures-aussie-age-group-mark-in-400-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Bailey Coleman Captures Aussie Age Group Mark in 400 Free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Budding Brisbane freestyler <strong>Bailey Coleman<\/strong> has added a third gold medal in an outstanding Australian Age record time on night five of the 2016 Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Swimming Championships in Adelaide <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869882\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tonight<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The 13-year-old clocked an eye-catching 4:05.47 to swim away from the field over the final 200 metres in another impressive performance.<\/p>\n<p>The teenage cousin of former Australian Commonwealth Games, World Championship and Pan Pac representative <strong>Katie Goldman<\/strong> added the 400m to earlier gold medals in the 200m and 800m freestyle, his bronze in the 100m freestyle and silver in the 100m butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>His 800m time of 8:35.67 was just 0.17 off 2015 Fina World Championship bronze medallist <strong>Mack Horton&#8217;s<\/strong> 2010 Australian record of 8:35.50.<\/p>\n<p>The youngster was taking no chances <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869883\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tonight<\/span><\/span>, taking a whopping 2.31secs off Gold Coaster<strong> Elijah Winnington\u2019s<\/strong> 2014 National mark of 4:07.78 and if Winnington\u2019s form this week is any indication then Coleman certainly moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>Winnington (Bond Swimming), who is coached by <strong>Richard Scarce<\/strong>, won the 15 years 400 freestyle two nights ago in an impressive 3.53.90 and added the 200m <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869884\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tonight<\/span><\/span> in an equally impressive 1:50.32.<\/p>\n<p>Coleman\u2019s coach at Southside Aquatics, <strong>Lachlan Staples<\/strong>, himself a former World Championship swimmer in Rome in 2009, says his young change has a \u201cgreat work ethic with maturity beyond his years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And looking at his swims this week that work ethic is paying dividends.<\/p>\n<p>Coleman\u2019s splits in his deserved 400 Australian record were 57.99;
