{"id":192963,"date":"2016-03-31T17:25:47","date_gmt":"2016-04-01T00:25:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=192963"},"modified":"2016-04-01T06:42:05","modified_gmt":"2016-04-01T13:42:05","slug":"timothy-squires-speedo-sectionals-geneva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/timothy-squires-speedo-sectionals-geneva\/","title":{"rendered":"Timothy Squires Among Several Olympic Trials Qualifiers at Speedo Sectionals Geneva"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several swimmers cleared Olympic Trials cuts at the 2016 Speedo Sectionals Geneva, including ASC&#8217;s <strong>Timothy Squires<\/strong> in the men&#8217;s 50-meter free.<\/p>\n<p>Squires (23.08), <strong>Meli Malani<\/strong> (23.18) and <strong>Daniel Kanorr<\/strong> (23.29) all made the Olympic Trials cut in the men&#8217;s 50-meter free.<\/p>\n<p>Ohio State&#8217;s<strong> Halime Zeren<\/strong> raced her way to an Olympic Trials cut in the women&#8217;s 200-meter back with a 2:13.21. \u00a0ASC&#8217;s <strong>Kendall Shields<\/strong>, 15, just missed the cut of 2:16.59 with a 2:16.81 for second. \u00a0Riptide&#8217;s <strong>Kelly Leonard<\/strong> placed third in 2:17.37.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana&#8217;s <strong>James Beckman<\/strong> just made the Olympic Trials cut in the men&#8217;s 200-meter back with a 2:03.71. \u00a0WOSC&#8217;s <strong>Spencer Carl<\/strong> (2:04.61) and IU&#8217;s <strong>Joseph Lane<\/strong> (2:05.25) finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaitlyn Johnson<\/strong> cleared the Olympic Trials cut in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free with a 25.97. \u00a0<strong>Cynthia Donovan<\/strong> (26.39) and <strong>Susan Franz<\/strong> (26.46) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p>IU&#8217;s <strong>Laura Morley<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast in 2:36.23. \u00a0<strong>Carlie Perretta<\/strong> (2:37.87) and<strong> Paloma Marrero<\/strong> (2:38.04) finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacob Foster<\/strong> (2:17.15) and <strong>William Schrensky<\/strong> (2:17.98) each posted Olympic Trials cuts in the men&#8217;s 200-meter breast. \u00a0<strong>Ryan Fisher<\/strong> took third in 2:21.64.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olivia Johnson<\/strong> claimed the women&#8217;s 800-meter free in 8:55.81 with FAST teammate <strong>Margaret Jahns<\/strong> taking second in 9:07.19. \u00a0<strong>Emma Bradley<\/strong> wound up third in 9:09.83.<\/p>\n<p>IU went 1-2-3-4-5 in the men&#8217;s 1500-meter free. \u00a0<strong>Matt Anderson<\/strong> led the way with a 15:41.43. \u00a0<strong>Adam Destrampe<\/strong> took second with a 15:45.97. \u00a0Both cleared the Olympic Trials cut. <strong>Jack Collins<\/strong> (16:01.25), <strong>Joseph Snodderly<\/strong> (16:02.73) and <strong>Andrej Ivanonic<\/strong> (16:13.98) completed the rest of the top five.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Several swimmers cleared Olympic Trials cuts at the 2016 Speedo Sectionals Geneva, including ASC&#8217;s Timothy Squires in the men&#8217;s 50-meter free.
