{"id":192800,"date":"2016-03-30T15:10:50","date_gmt":"2016-03-30T22:10:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=192800"},"modified":"2016-03-30T15:10:50","modified_gmt":"2016-03-30T22:10:50","slug":"sarah-sjostrom-posts-sizzling-double-with-top-ranked-50-fly-2nd-ranked-200-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarah-sjostrom-posts-sizzling-double-with-top-ranked-50-fly-2nd-ranked-200-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarah Sjostrom Posts Sizzling Double With Top-Ranked 50 Fly, 2nd-Ranked 200 Free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> raced her way to a pair of victories at the 2016 Stockholm Swim Open today, including a chart-topper in the 50 fly and a runner-up time in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom threw down a 1:54.87 to win the women&#8217;s 200-meter free. \u00a0That moved her up to second in the world behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-epic-katie-ledecky-sarah-sjostrom-200-free-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\">only <strong>Katie Ledecky&#8217;s<\/strong> 1:54.43 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series<\/a>. \u00a0<strong>Viktoriia Andreeva<\/strong> turned in a second-place time of 1:58.86 with <strong>Ida Marko-Varga<\/strong> earning third in 2:00.27.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom then shot to the top of the world in the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly with a sizzling 25.15. That&#8217;s among the top 15 times ever. \u00a0<strong>Svetlana Chimrova<\/strong> finished second in 26.26, while <strong>Therese Alshammar<\/strong> placed third in 26.29.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Henrik Christiansen<\/strong> vaulted to the top of the world in the men&#8217;s 400-meter free with a 3:46.37. \u00a0That swim broke the Norwegian record in the process. \u00a0<strong>Adam Paulsson<\/strong> touched second in 3:52.33 with<strong> Victor Johansson<\/strong> earning third in 3:53.83.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus&#8217; <strong>Aliaksandra Herasimenia<\/strong> broke her own national record in the women&#8217;s 50-meter back with a time of 27.53. \u00a0That swim cleared her 27.57 set during semis of the 2009 World Championships. \u00a0It also moved her closer to <strong>Minna Atherton&#8217;s<\/strong> top-ranked 27.49 this year. <strong>\u00a0Anastasiia Fesikova<\/strong> placed second in 28.26 with <strong>Ida Lindborg<\/strong> earning third in 28.39.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marco Koch<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katinka-hosszu-sizzles-with-world-best-207-69-in-200-im\/\" target=\"_blank\">who already clocked a second-ranked 2:07.69 in Luxembourg earlier this year<\/a>, won the men&#8217;s 200-meter breast in 2:08.46. \u00a0<strong>Erik Persson<\/strong> set a Swedish record in the event with a 2:10.35. \u00a0That swim broke his own mark of 2:10.41 from last August. \u00a0<strong>Giedrius Titenis<\/strong> picked up third in 2:13.33.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Piero Codia<\/strong> moved to sixth in the world with a 23.65 in the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly. \u00a0<strong>Sergei Fesikov<\/strong> took second in 23.94 with <strong>Evgeny Sedov<\/strong> placing third in 24.00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Milena Karpisz<\/strong> topped the women&#8217;s 1500-meter free in 16:53.44 with <strong>Paulina Piechota<\/strong> snaring second in 17:00.98. \u00a0<strong>Hanna Eriksson<\/strong> finished third in 17:30.95.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luca Mencarini<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 200-meter back in 1:58.73. \u00a0<strong>Radoslaw Kawecki<\/strong> (2:00.20) and <strong>Mattias Carlsson<\/strong> (2:01.07) finished second and third.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sarah Sjostrom raced her way to a pair of victories at the 2016 Stockholm Swim Open today, including a chart-topper in the 50 fly and a runner-up time in the<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":157399,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"dois","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[3,10],"tags":[57343,32196],"class_list":["post-192800","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured","category-world","tag-2016-swedish-open","tag-sarah-sjostrom"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v24.3 (Yoast SEO v24.3) -
