class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869719\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tonight<\/span><\/span> in the countdown to next week\u2019s Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming Championships when the best swimmers in the country chase berths on the Australian Olympic Swim Team for Rio.<\/p>\n<p>The 17-year-old from Marion clocked a personal best time of 1:47.23 to win the 17-18 years 200m freestyle on night three of the Georgina Hope Foundation 2016 Australian Age Championships.<\/p>\n<p>It followed Chalmers Australian Age and Australian All-Comers record of 22.15 to win the 50 metres on the opening night of the Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Chalmers powered home over the final 50 metres <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869720\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tonight<\/span><\/span> in 26.90 after splitting 52.65 at the 100m mark in an eye-catching swim at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The powerfully build youngster, who will contest the 50 and 100m freestyle events in his quest for a berth on the Australian Olympic team, has not entered the 200m freestyle at next week\u2019s Championships \u2013 concentrating on the two sprint freestyle events.<\/p>\n<p>His time <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869721\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tonight<\/span><\/span> would have seeded him sixth behind major Olympic contenders <strong>Cameron McEvoy<\/strong> (1:45.94), <strong>David McKeon<\/strong> (1:46.33), <strong>Daniel Smith<\/strong> (1:46.50), <strong>Tom Fraser-Holmes<\/strong> (1:46.83) and <strong>Grant Hackett<\/strong> (1:46.84) who are expected to fight out next week\u2019s 200m freestyle final in the battle for individual and relay spots for Rio.<\/p>\n<p>In a strong show of depth in <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869722\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tonight\u2019s<\/span><\/span> 17-18 years final St Peters Western, QLD pair Clyde Lewis (1:48.43)\u00a0and <strong>Jack Cartwright<\/strong> (1:48.64) finished second and third respectively behind Chalmers.<\/p>\n<p>In other events Chalmers 15-year-old Marion team mate <strong>Emily Liu<\/strong> claimed a rare 50-400m freestyle double \u2013 first winning the 400m freestyle in 4:10.76 before taking out the 50m final in 25.86.<\/p>\n<p>There was another double to Melbourne Vicentre\u2019s 14-year-old <strong>Oliver Nash<\/strong> who collected gold in the 200m butterfly in 2:06.00 and the 100m freestyle in 53.07.<\/p>\n<p>The Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming Championships will start at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre next <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1311869723\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Thursday, April 7<\/span><\/span> featuring the cream if Australia\u2019s
