California’s Josh Prenot<\/strong> delivered California its first ever men’s 400-yard IM title with the second-fastest time in the event’s history at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.<\/p>\n

Prenot crushed the field in the front half, and turned in a strong breaststroke leg before winning in 3:35.82. Only Chase Kalisz<\/strong> has been faster with an NCAA and American record time of 3:34.50 from 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Texas’ Will Licon<\/strong>, the defending champion from 2015 with a fifth-ranked 3:36.37<\/a>, took second this time around in 3:37.40.<\/p>\n

Stanford’s Abrahm DeVine<\/strong> (3:42.02), Tennessee’s Sam McHugh<\/strong> (3:42.38) and Louisville’s Nolan Tesone<\/strong> (3:43.28) finished sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n

Florida’s Mark Szaranek<\/strong> won the B final in a time of 3:39.28.<\/p>\n
