DALLAS, Texas., Nov. 4. AUBURN University sophomore Maggie Bowen claimed swimmer of the meet honors while leading the Auburn University women's swimming and diving teams to the SMU Classic title Saturday afternoon with a score of 313.<\/p>\n
Auburn earned the top spot over second place Wisconsin by 17 points (296) while Texas finished third (289)and SEC foe Florida concluded the weekend with a fourth place finish and 274 points. <\/p>\n
Bowen took the top spot in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.28 and a second place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.70. Magda Dyszkiewicz won the 500 free event with a time of 4:49.21 and immediately got back in the pool to swim the 200 back, which she placed 11th to help the team in scoring.<\/p>\n
"The team swam really well this weekend," said assistant head women's coach Kim Brackin. "It was a nice start to the season. We took a very young group of just freshmen and sophomores and to see their composure is exciting. It really gives us something to look forward to."<\/p>\n
Texas senior Colleen Lanne was the only swimmer to win three events, clocking 23.14, 49.90 and 1:46.87 to take the 50, 100 and 200 yard freestyle.<\/p>\n
SMU soph, Sarah Chandler, annexed both breaststrokes, touching in 1:04.37 in the 100 and a very swift 2:14.78 in the 200.<\/p>\n
Texas soph Tanica Jamison had an outstanding meet, taking the 100 fly in 55.58, while Wisconsin's Betsy Hassebroek won the 200 back (2:00.04) and Florida's Sara McLarty emerged triumphant in the 200 fly (2:03.67).<\/p>\n
Wisconsin won both sprint relays clocking 1:34.77 in the 200 and 3:24.89 in the 400. Florida won the 800 free relay in a strong 7:23.36.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
