This year, the Longhorns defended that title with a win from <strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men&#8217;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/defending-champion-clark-smith-misses-500-free-finals\/\" target=\"_blank\">defending champion <strong>Clark Smith<\/strong> finishing a surprising 21st this morning<\/a>, freshman Haas had to step up big to keep the title in Austin.
