California dominated the men’s 200-yard IM at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships with Josh Prenot<\/strong> leading the way by moving to seventh all time in the event’s history.<\/p>\n

With the 12th-fastest time ever, Prenot moved up to seventh all time with a 1:41.07. \u00a0He led a three-up, one-down performance by California as Ryan Murphy<\/strong> improved to ninth all time with a 1:41.15 for the second seed, while Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> snared the fourth seed in 1:41.65 to move up to 12th all time in the event.<\/p>\n

Texas’ Will Licon<\/strong>, the third-ranked swimmer ever with a 1:40.09, cruised into third with a 1:41.36.<\/p>\n

California is looking to claim its third NCAA title in the event as previous wins came by way of D. Graham Smith<\/strong> in 1979 (1:48.44) and Marcin Tarczynski<\/strong> in 2012 (1:41.97). Texas, has a pair of wins as well with Nate Dusing<\/strong> (2001) and Austin Surhoff<\/strong> (2010).<\/p>\n

Georgia’s Gunnar Bentz<\/strong> (1:41.72), Virginia Tech’s Brandon Fiala<\/strong> (1:41.95), Florida’s Mark Szaranek<\/strong> (1:42.03) and Florida’s Jan Switkowski<\/strong> (1:42.15) will also compete in the championship heat.<\/p>\n
