Suffering from a neck injury since January, <\/span><b>McLaughlin <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">only recently returned to her team prior to the Pac 12 Championships, where she swam a limited schedule and wasn\u2019t able to put up qualifying times for NCAA\u2019s. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McLaughlin was a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/video-interview-katie-mclaughlins-bronze-medal-in-200-fly-at-pan-pacs-lands-her-on-worlds-squad\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">double bronze medalist at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the 100 and 200 butterfly and represented the United States in Kazan this past summer in the 200 butterfly where she finished sixth in 2:06.95 after leading the field through the 150. While <\/span><b>McLaughlin <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has elected to spend the rest of the semester in Southern California to finish rehabbing closer to family and friends, she has stated that she plans to return to her team in Berkeley as soon as her recovery in complete. Several young stars, including <\/span><b>Reece Whitley <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Michael Andrew <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">were on hand to showcase some fast swimming, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/reece-whitley-michael-andrew-highlight-2016-ncsa-juniors-psych-sheet\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">racing short-course yards in the morning and switching to long-course meters for finals in the evening.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nation\u2019s Capital took the women\u2019s team title in 1,233 points, nearly doubling runner-up\u2019s Ozaukee Aquatics point total. <\/span><b>Kylie Jordan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> put up 113 points of her own to lead the NCAP contingent. <\/span><b>Jordan <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won the 100 fly (1:00.60) and also placed top 8 in the 50 butterfly, 200 butterfly, and 200 IM.<\/span><b> Katherine Drabot<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Ozaukee Aquatics took the high point award on the women\u2019s side, scoring 205 points throughout the meet. <\/span><b>Drabot <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won the 100 free (55.03), 200 free (1:59.32), and 50 fly (27.12) throughout the meet, and also had an additional top 8 finishes in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 400 free. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team battle was much closer on the men\u2019s side, with Nova of Virginia finishing just 29 points ahead of Nation\u2019s Capital to capture the title. Nova of Virginia put up 1221.5 and Nation\u2019s Capital had 1192.5. Nova was helped by having the two highest scoring swimmers of the meet in <\/span><b>Frederick Schubert<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (255 points) and <\/span><b>Aaron Schultz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (233 points). <\/span><b>Schubert <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">captured the 800 freestyle (8:27.09) and finished top 8 in a staggering <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ten <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">events. <\/span><b>Schultz <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also had an impressive ten top 8 finishes, touching as high as third in the 1,000 and 800 free. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the combined team title, Nation\u2019s Capital dominated with 2425.5 points ahead of Nova (1370.5 points) and Machine Aquatics (876.5). Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Russian breaststroker <\/span><b>Yuliya Efimova<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/yuliya-efimova-reportedly-tests-positive-for-meldonium\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has tested positive for meldonium<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the same substance that caused Russian tennis star\u00a0<\/span><b>Maria Sharapova<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/maria-sharapova-meldonium-what-meldonium-436525\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to fail a drug test at the Australian Open a few weeks ago<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>Efimova <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/yuliya-efimova-banned-for-16-months-stripped-of-world-records\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has already served a 16-month ban for a previous positive doping test, which stripped her of a handful of short course world records<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and several European titles. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meldonium has been found in nearly 100 athletes this year following the drug\u2019s movement to the WADA banned substance list on January 1st, with a great portion of those being Russian athletes. <\/span><b>Efimova <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the first Russian swimmer to fail a doping test for meldonium this year. Meldonium is thought to have performance enhancing effects for endurance athletes. While she competes internationally for Russia, <\/span><b>Efimova <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trains in the United States with the Trojan Swim Club and <\/span><b>Dave Salo. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Russian Swimming Federation has also <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rbc.ru\/society\/16\/03\/2016\/56e9c46f9a7947e4f53fd7ee\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">confirmed that <\/span><b>Efimova <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is under temporary suspension<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Emory women took their seventh consecutive team title with 560 points, finishing first by nearly 100 points over runner-up Kenyon. The Denison men broke a three-year Kenyon streak to finish first in a tighter team battle against Kenyon, 455.5 to 418.5. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coaches <\/span><b>Jon Howell<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Emory) and <\/span><b>Greg Parini <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Denison) were named CSCAA Coaches of the Year. Georgia pulled away on the third day of the meet to finish ahead of Stanford and Cal with 414 points. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/greg-meehan-discusses-stanfords-second-place-finish\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stanford was close behind in second with 395 points<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while Cal was third with 358 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a somewhat disappointing meet last year, junior <\/span><b>Olivia Smoliga <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/georgias-olivia-smoliga-cranks-ncaa-record-21-21-win-50-free\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">set a new NCAA record in the 50 freestyle, erasing <\/span><b>Lara Jackson\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">record with a 21.21<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>Smoliga <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olivia-smoliga-sweeps-sprint-frees-100-free-triumph-ncaas\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also won the 100 freestyle in a school record 46.70<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and placed 9th in the 100 backstroke in 50.58. Other wins included the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/video-interviews-jack-bauerle-hali-flickinger-brittany-maclean-and-ella-eastin-speak-after-night-one-at-ncaa-championships\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">800 free relay team of <\/span><b>Hali Flickinger<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Kylie Stewart<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Meaghan Raab<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Brittany MacLean<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (6:51.80)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/video-interview-brittany-maclean-recaps-emotional-200-free-victory\/\"><b>Brittany MacLean <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the 200 freestyle (1:42.42)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. While only seeded fourth from psych sheet scoring, the Bulldogs depth and consistency across events carried them to the title. This win also ties <\/span><b>Bauerle <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with legendary coach <\/span><b>Richard Quick <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for the most NCAA team wins at a single institution, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jack-bauerle-lilly-king-honored-by-cscaa\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">helped earn him the CSCAA Coach of the Year<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were plenty of impressive swims throughout the meet. Those included Louisville\u2019s <\/span><b>Kelsi Worrell <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kelsi-worrell-demolishes-100-fly-ncaa-american-record-49-43\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">setting an American and NCAA record in the 100 butterfly (49.43)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Stanford freshman <\/span><b>Ella Eastin\u2019s <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanfords-ella-eastin-snags-200-im-american-ncaa-u-s-open-record\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American and NCAA record in the 200 IM (1:51.65)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and Stanford <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-tops-ncaa-american-record-in-400-medley-relay-to-close-night\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">breaking their own American and NCAA record in the 400 medley relay (3:26.14)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
