{"id":191278,"date":"2016-03-19T11:16:19","date_gmt":"2016-03-19T18:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=191278"},"modified":"2016-03-19T11:16:19","modified_gmt":"2016-03-19T18:16:19","slug":"gabriele-detti-martina-carraro-move-to-2nd-in-world-in-respective-events-in-milan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/gabriele-detti-martina-carraro-move-to-2nd-in-world-in-respective-events-in-milan\/","title":{"rendered":"Gabriele Detti, Martina Carraro Move to 2nd in World in Respective Events in Milan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Gabriele Detti<\/strong> raced his way to second in the world in the men&#8217;s 400-meter free at the 2016 City of Milan Trophy meet. \u00a0The event was a two-day timed final long course competition.<\/p>\n<p>Detti posted a 3:46.59 to move to second in the world <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/cameron-mcevoy-turns-heat-100-free-australia\/\" target=\"_blank\">behind only <strong>David McKeon&#8217;s<\/strong> 3:46.48 from the NSW Championships<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dimitrios Dimitriou<\/strong> touched second overall in 3:50.81, while <strong>Gregorio Paltrinieri<\/strong> took third in 3:51.20 after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/gregorio-paltrinieri-gabriele-detti-go-1-2-in-world-in-1500-free-in-milan\/\" target=\"_blank\">moving to the top of the world in the 1500 free yesterday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Martina Carraro<\/strong> also claimed a runner-up world ranking with a 30.79 in the women&#8217;s 50-meter breast. \u00a0Only <strong>Ruta Meilutyte<\/strong> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ruta-meilutyte-blazes-way-to-2nd-in-world-in-100-breast\/\" target=\"_blank\">faster with a 30.40 split from the Edinburgh International meet<\/a>. <strong>\u00a0Lisa Angiolini<\/strong> (31.92) and <strong>Ilaria Scarcella<\/strong> (32.02) rounded out the top three today.<\/p>\n<p>Carraro also jumped up to seventh in the world in the women&#8217;s 100-meter breast with a 1:07.31. \u00a0<strong>Ilaria Scarcella<\/strong> finished second in 1:08.82 with <strong>Elisa Celli<\/strong> claiming third in 1:09.76.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Piero Codia<\/strong> moved up to fifth in the world in the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly with a 52.37. \u00a0<strong>Matteo Rivolta<\/strong> finished second in 52.80, while <strong>Daniele D&#8217;Angelo<\/strong> placed third in 53.83. Codia also improved to seventh in the world in the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly with a 23.73. \u00a0Rivolta (24.38) and <strong>Francesco Giordano<\/strong> (24.53) closed out the podium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luca Dotto<\/strong> improved to ninth in the world in the men&#8217;s 100-meter free with a 48.77. \u00a0<strong>Filippo Magnini<\/strong> (49.37) and <strong>Marco Orsi<\/strong> (49.75) cleared 50-seconds for second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fabio Scozzoli<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 100-meter breast in 1:01.48 with <strong>Ioannis Karpouzlis<\/strong> taking second in 1:02.10. <strong>Luca Pizzini<\/strong> wound up third in 1:02.25. Scozzoli doubled up with a 27.82 in the men&#8217;s 50-meter breast to move to 11th in the world. <strong>\u00a0Andrea Toniato<\/strong> (27.94) and <strong>Ioannis Karpouzlis<\/strong> (28.26) placed second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simone Sabbioni<\/strong> captured the men&#8217;s 50-meter back in 25.68 with <strong>Niccolo Bonacchi<\/strong> tying <strong>Michail Kontizas<\/strong> for second with 25.80s.
