{"id":191060,"date":"2016-03-18T16:02:34","date_gmt":"2016-03-18T23:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=191060"},"modified":"2016-03-18T17:09:34","modified_gmt":"2016-03-19T00:09:34","slug":"lilly-king-crashes-through-57-second-barrier-in-100-breast-with-ncaa-american-record-56-85","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lilly-king-crashes-through-57-second-barrier-in-100-breast-with-ncaa-american-record-56-85\/","title":{"rendered":"(Race Video) Lilly King Crashes Through 57-Second Barrier in 100 Breast With NCAA, American Record 56.85"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indiana&#8217;s <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> stunned the collegiate swimming community by breaking the 57-second barrier to blast her NCAA, U.S. Open and American record in the women&#8217;s 100-yard breast at the 2016 NCAA Division I Women&#8217;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>King went out in 26.44, and came back in 30.41 to blast by 57 seconds with a 56.85. \u00a0This morning, she downed Breeja Larson&#8217;s NCAA and American record of 57.15 from prelims.<\/p>\n<p>King, just a freshman, set herself up to potentially become only the second person ever to post a career sweep of the 100 breast. <strong>\u00a0Tara Kirk<\/strong> won the event from 2001-04 for Stanford, and had owned the record with a long-standing 57.77 from 2006.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WATCH | Here\u2019s a deck-level view of Lilly King\u2019s historic National Championship swim for IU in the 100 breast!
