(Here is today's entry in Kalyn Keller's daily diary at the First FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships in Honolulu.)<\/p>\n
HONOLULU, November 2. Today was the 10k for men and women. The conditions in the ocean were not favorable, but we did the best with what we were given. It has been overcast and rainy for the last day and a half, which makes the ocean currents strong and more wavy! <\/p>\n
On the guys' side we had a great finish with Matt and Ben. It was a pretty exciting race. The lead and positions changed so many times throughout the race, but at the end Spain's David Meca won.<\/p>\n
With the girls, our swimmers gave a great effort… we had Meghan and Dawn Heckman. Unfortunatly, due to the conditions, Meghan missed the last splitter bouy and went on the wrong side of it. She and three other girls were DQ'ed.<\/p>\n
In the combined team times we were third, which is great! Hopefully we will get some more sunshine in the Aloha state. <\/p>\n
The 25k people are getting ready to swim, while they have thier numbers and boats drawn. I am always amazed at how far they can swim! I dont know if I could do it! <\/p>\n
Tomorrow we may go visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial and the International Market. <\/p>\n
