Day one of the men’s and women’s AAA Pennsylvania High School State Championships began today. The men’s and women’s 200 medley relay, 200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly and 200 free relay were swam.<\/p>\n

Upper Dublin’s senior,\u00a0Michael Jensen<\/strong> just missed the National High School Record in the men’s 200 freestyle. He clocked in at a 1:33.90 for a gold medal.<\/p>\n

This was less than a tenth of a second off of the 2009 National Record of 1:33.83 held by Tom Shields<\/strong>. He did break his own previous PIAA record of 1:35.31 that he set last year. Jensen crushed both his morning time of 1:37.98 and entry time of 1:36.63. He is set to swim at The University of California Berkeley in the fall.<\/p>\n

Also medaling in the men’s 200 freestyle is sophomore Jake Sannem<\/strong> of La Salle and North Allegheny’s senior Mason Gonzalez<\/strong> who came in third place with a 1:38.61.<\/p>\n
